Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart Wii is UNSTOPPABLE! *attempt # 2*

Never played the handheld versions, but MKWii is the best of the console versions, no doubt about it. MK64 was great for its time, but now appears very basic in comparison. Weaker track design, cheating AI, very few tracks and characters. MKWii has a lot more depth (even in single player), a fantastic online mode and a very impressive tracklist. The only thing I dont like is the blue shell, which often makes winning a matter of luck.

Oh they'll run out of marioboys soon enough.

It's really the lowest rated ever? What a load of crap. More evidence that game reviewers are out of touch with reality.

Pointing one's finger at reviewers is far easier than pointing one's finger at the game itself.

Okay it fucked up battle mode.  INSTANT WORST MK EVER?  No way.

The rest of the improvements more than made up for that.

Reviewers who think MK Wii is a step back from Double Dash and MK DS and also think GTA4 is a step forward from GTA3SA but without bigger problems should never be taken seriously.

It has some of my favorite MK level design, and I love the lack of snaking, I love the use of Miis, I love the music, I love the motorcycles, stunts, wheelies, new items, new characters, and wide variety of vehicles.  The online system lets me hop in and out super fast and smoothly, and the constant tournaments are great.

It just proves that reviewers are completely inconsistent, and change their criteria every 5 minutes, and they're never held accountable.

It's very easy to point the finger at reviewers since they have often misrepresented the way the gameplay works.

@Montana: But the thing is, that practically everyone who play MKWii, is saying the opposite to reviewers. So even the group that the reviewers represent, don't seem to agree them. Looks like the reviewers stepped too much into shit with this one.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Honestly, I just wanted to start some controversy. The most I've played of Mario Kart Wii is 20 minutes or so at a kiosk. Although I've seen lots of times when review scores were quite just (Braid for example), these ratings don't really seem fair. Hell, blame EGM. If memory serves, they gave it a worse rating then Super Mario Strikers Charged, and probably one of the lowest out of many top reviewers.

Yeah, MKWii and SSBB are the best multiplayer games this gen, both will pass 10 million lifetime.

Indeed. Because when I think of sophisticated, I think of (and to quote Rubang):

"Music, motorcycles, stunts, wheelies, new items, new characters, and wide variety of vehicles"

If that's sophisticated, then damn, San Andreas beat Mario Kart by about 3 and a half years.

Mario Kart Wii has been selling a LOT, no doubt. Mario Karts have always had legs no doubt, but did anyone really expect such high sales and long legs from the lowest rated Mario Kart ever?

Yes, lots of people did.  We said it would sell over 10 million copies and I still think it will.
