Miyamoto To Give Keynote at Japan Developers Conference

Nintendo master to speak about Wii Music.

August 8, 2008 - Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Capcom's Keiji Inafune will be giving keynote speeches at this year's CESA Developers Conference (CEDEC), CESA revealed today. The Japanese game development event, a Japanese equivalent of America's annual GDC event, will be held in Tokyo from September 11 to 13.

Miyamoto's speech, set for the third day of the show, will be titled "Doko Kara Tsukureba Iindarou," or roughly "Where's a good place to start development." The Nintendo software head will speak about game production and universal design, using Wii Music as an example.

Inafune's speech has yet to be detailed.

Outside of CEDEC, CESA also runs the Tokyo Game Show, which will be held in early October. The TGS keynote will be given by CESA head (and Square Enix president) Yoichi Wada.

Ugh... the first time I've ever NOT been excited to hear what Shiggy has to say. Why couldn't you use Animal Crossing or Pikmin 3 as a showcase for how to make a simple, fun game?



Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

kitchensink, he will probably talk about Animal Crossing later in the show, but come on. What do you think would drive Wii sales better, a game, while may have good online and may be one of this gen's best, that may not appeal to everyone, or a game which has "wii" in the title? Once you understand that, I'm sure you would just concentrate on Wiimusic.


I am still unsure on Pikmin, (i never played a Nintendo franchise other than Mario so I don't know why everyone's crazy about it.


They need to hurry up and get Galaxy over the damn 1 mil mark in Japan, then announce a new Galaxy 2.

Wii Play has the appeal of an extra controller along with the game. So I would say that they are about equal in terms of importance.

Game Developer's Conference is notE3.  It's not a big public event that gets a media blitz and articles inevery local newspaper.  The Game Developer's Conferences is (zomg?) for game developers.  I hope to god that no one takes any cues from Wii Music (and it hurts to say that, as Miyamoto is a god in my eyes, the very reason that I'll be getting into gaming as a career).

:( i want miyamoto to speak about games that gamers care about not shovelware that is giving nintendo a bad image. according to every site wii music was the worst game of E3 even for IGN.

what a stupid decision from nintendo, rather than encourage 3rd partys to increase their core suppor they ecourage them to make silly games with no gameplay at all. Im very disappointed in nintendo and the 3 paryts
