UPDATE:

Joystiq posts second (3rd party only) graph, eats crow.

Actually, it looks like Swilinski himself moved the goalposts, shifting from "get rid of first party sales and let's talk" to "look how much higher 360 sales are right now".

Yeah, I saw that.  We will see in another year if that holds up.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Yeah, and Swilinski is over there now deleting each and every comment that makes mention of him eating crow or deleting comments.  I've had 5 deleted already and seen a bunch of other folks who called Swilinski/Joystiq out have their comments deleted too.

Why don't you guys try it out? Post on Joystiq and mention "deleting comments" and "crow" and watch it get deleted.  Fun!  This is a new low for Joystiq.

I saw it happen. Pity I didn't take page archives, though. Today, joystiq fails hard. I expected their users to be the ones backpedalling, not the author himself!

Super World Cup Fighter II: Championship 2010 Edition

A post author is deleting comments he doesn't like? He should just grow a thicker skin or find a job where he doesn't have to deal with people on the internet.

EDIT: Not that you can't delete comments at all, but that would be for genuine trolling, not this.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

A new PoP for Wii hasn't be officially confirmed ... yet. ( you are confusing some of that articles. The first one refered to the port released in 2007 on Wii )

Ubisoft said there's a Prince of Persia game on the Wii in development now in an official statement (click on the first blue text in the post you quoted:

"Representatives from Ubisoft confirmed today that "A game based on the popular Prince of Persia franchise is one of many titles Ubisoft has in development for Nintendo's Wii. At this time we can not provide an official date for the game or any additional information about it."

The one that I'm becoming less and less certain about is I Am Alive. I remember reading an official statement on the matter, but I can't find it anymore.

Haven't they learned from other websites?  The best thing to do is let the people do their thing...  I don't know how Joystiq and Kotaku stay so popular.

At least IGN and Destructoid let you dis them... heck at Destructoid often (and IGN sometimes), the editors will outright join in on the fighting and bullying - even on eachother.

Hey, VGChartz mods and contributors are lively, too.  No wonder why I like this site.

(Note: The fact that I like the rules/mods/editors doesn't mean I agree with them.  Also, I still hate the IGN Wii Podcast. They talk out of their ass to much.)

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

@steven: I believe their popularity is based on the bashing/flaming you see there. The "hardcore" finds its likes there.
So it's not that much about the site itself, but the generic, ignorant userbase.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

We didn't say Third-party games do not sell on the Wii.

We said GOOD third-party games do not sell on the Wii. Nobody questioned that gaming pearls like Mario&Sonic or Carnival Games were selling like hotcakes.

(I mean of course you could say that there are not many good third-party games on Wii but that's a hen&egg problem)

Mario & Sonic was a pretty damn good game.

What "good" 3rd party game has launched on the Wii and bombed off the face of the planet?

RE:UC, Zak and Wiki and NMH have all done fine, especially considering that two of them were new franchises and weren't heavily advertised.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

Mario & Sonic was a pretty damn good game.

If you are content with Mario&Sonic you should consider buying a second gaming system .

RE:UC, Zak and Wiki and NMH have all done fine

Yes but apparently doing "fine" is the best the Wii can do. It simply doesn't have any third-party blockbusters apart from its core audience (sport games, music games, mini games) I am not saying that this is bad mind you and this audience clearly is much bigger than the people who want to play the next GTA, Gears, Bioshock on HD consoles. But it's library is terrible in a wide area of game types and this will not change in the mid future.
