Forums - Sales - Is Madden 09 going to move hardware? Who will benefit?

No, it will not move hardware. I have played both the PS3 and 360 versions. IMO, the 360 version plays better. The PS3 version is an improvement over last year but still plays slower then the 360 version. No one will benefit as Madden will sell on both consoles. The 360 will win in overall software sales by a 2:1 margin as it always does on multiplats.

DMC4, Burnout Paradise, GTA4, DW6, and VF5 laugh at your ratios

I don't think it will move any hardware...

It never has done in the past.

I think it will sell a couple thousand consoles because I've seen deals for buying a console plus Madden for $50 gift card or something similar. People say there is a shortage on PS3s, so that won't help move PS3s and someone would go for a 360 if a store is out of stock. The Wii always sells out, so you can't really tell if Madden helps the Wii.

Hmm, what do people think about the Wii version. I know it typically doesn't sell sports games as well, but the controls look really good.

You have everything in the PS3 and XBox360 version in terms of game play, plus you can customize the route of your receiver by pointing and clicking on the screen, along with other game play features.

Sure the online might be lacking compared to PS3 and Xbox360, and the graphics may not be as nice, but if EA advertises it correctly, then I think it will sell extremely well.

I don't typically buy sports games, but I've already considered buying the Wii version if it reviews well.

I bet the Wii version may crack 150k first week, which would double 1st week sales from last year, and be close to PS3 sales last year.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I agree that the Wii version should not do bad. It could reach 1M during its lifetime. Also, there's only 110k difference between Wii and PS3 version so it's possible for the Wii version to outsell the PS3 version. It won't move any hardware of course.
