Forums - Gaming - Looking for a fighter: Burst Limit or Soul Calibur IV?

If I were looking for a fighting game I would play King of fighters 98 ultimate for the ps2... but I guess it isn't HD....
or button masher friendly....
but it does have atleast 42 different characters plus numerous variations and it isn't overtly combo heavy along with one of the best core fighting engines out there

Soul Calibur in PS3 for play as me... Darth Vader!

MY ZELDA COLLECTION

SCIV. Its easy for newcomers to pick up but vets still own! DBZ looked like it should have stayed on ps2

Pass on both.

Burst Limit for above reasons.

Pass on SCIV because apparently they took out Team mode, Exhibition mode, and Weapon Master mode. Also it seems that a lot of the characters are just clones of other characters.

Save your money and wait for Naruto.

Unfortunately, Naruto won't support online multi play.

But the developer may patch it if the sale # is good.

Eh, I barely use online play in fighters.  I don't use it in Smash anymore either.  Honestly for a fighter I just want it to be easy to pick-up, fast, and fun.

Meh, I just end up getting frustrated with lag.  From what I hear from many reviews and a couple friends SCIV can be even worse with it.  Lag just kills fighting games.

After Zen's and your input I'm pretty well convinced to hold off for Naruto.  The demo was excellent.  I still play it daily.  It's especially fun with friends.

How about tekken 5 DR? Sure its a bit dated now but still fun and cheap

lag is not a problem in SCIV if you decline games that are not at least 4 pings. This is from personal experience. If you really want to play it safe, only play 5 ping games. SCIV is so much fun, you're really missing out!

I don't know, everything you've described that you want is the kind of game Soul Calibur IV is.   I think SC II had superior gameplay, but as far as HD fighters go, SC IV best fits the bill for what you're looking for.

I would go for soul calibur. After Budakai 3... dbz console fighting games have gone down hill.... and they were pretty much low on budakai 1 and 2 to begin with.
