Forums - Microsoft - Looks like Tales of Vesperia has had a good debut in Japan...

And a picture...I think it's from a different location:

Holy cow, that's like every 360 owner in Japan.  ^_^

Good for ToV though.

It will be interesting to see if the 360 maintains some momentum after this, or if it returns to its old self in Japan.

It's not so much that people hated Tales because of the demo, but hated the fact that the demo wasn't that great. It just threw you into a random part of the game with very little explanation of the Tales battle system.

FYI: Play Asia is totally out of stock of the ToV bundles...And it looks like they're not getting anymore in.

Yep, getting frustrated playing a demo isn't pleasent, I had deleted it from my HDD within 5 minutes. I basically wrote off the game has crap and wondered what was the big fuss about the Tales series..

Demos are not good indicators of the quality of an RPG.  Tales of Vesperia will most likely be good(though IU interests me slightly more).

I think the former is more likely since Infinite Undiscovery comes out next month

Finally Microsoft is starting to understand they need a steady flow of titles in Japan to become successful. They now need to start getting some other titles out that are Japan-centric other than JRPGs. Then again....one step at a time!

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Interesting to see how the sales will be next week.

lol let the 360 take one week in japan it will fade out soon enough. Good for Microsoft though lord knows they need a hit. I wonder how this game will sell when it eventually goes to the ps3 or how it would compare to Eternal Sonata. THe Wii Tales game sold well i dont expect this game to reach it htough.

Probably pretty bad. Western gamers seem to shun stylish JRPGs.

Anyway, Glad that Tales of vesperia is doing so well. Hope it does well over here too.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

It's just the Western 360 owners who shun stylish JRPGs.  In fact, even though I see ToV selling better than IU in Japan, I wouldn't be suprised if it was vice versa in the West.

The question is the boost to HW sales, because if it is large, it could also help move some units of the older jRPGs on the system, and it does bode well for the future with IU coming soon, TLR in November and SO4 in the spring
