Yea, if u wanted the elite, that would be a good chance to buy it now. Saving $150 can get u a game, xbox live gold for a year, and maybe another controller/game.

My guess is since ur cousin alrdy has a 360 that u should get a ps3. But if u wanted to play with ur cousin over live, then get a 360. I can tell u u wont be dissapointed with the games coming out for 360. Just make sure that u have hi-speed internet and enough space to plug in a ethernet cord in the back. If u prefer wi-fi, its gonna cost u extra $70-100 while its included in the ps3.

Its all about the games, are u willing to wait until this holiday season for ps3 games to come out (resistsance 2 and little big planet + all sports games) or do u prefer the 360 lineup (gears of war 2, fable 2, sports games) For me, id get the 360 bcus it has more games and more people u would know would play it. I would get the ps3 if people (at my school) actually had it but i wouldnt want to play it by myself.

Otherwise, $299 for elite is a bargain, I would get it.

Wait until September and get a 360 with the price drop. Pay $300 for a 60 GB and you will have another $300 left for games an accessories. It's the smartest decision you'll make. I'd wait for a PS3 if I were you, unless you really want a PS3. If you're looking for a great deal and a great library for your money i'd say take the 360 though.

there's a couple of issues. it sounds like you don't have a lot of money coming in on a regular interval, you're friends are on live and it looks like you're into sports games and first person shooters. you'd probably do well better getting the xb360

thinks to keep in mind:
- xb360 Live service costs money and the ps3 online service is free.
- don't know much about netflix, but I assume that it costs money.
- 40 GB ps3 won't have backwards compatibility so you'd have to invest in an 80 GB ps3
- ps3 has bluray as you pointed out.

Don't ask us, it is what games you are more interested in and what features you like about each and compare. But i would go with the PS3 for it's game library like MGS4, RAC: Future, and Uncharted, plus Blu- Ray.

Both are good, so go with your gut. If it was me, I would go with a BC PS3, if you can find one. (all of them play PS1 games).

As for the quoted text, I prefer the BD over the Digital DL you get from Netflix. With NetFlix, you tell them you have a BD player, and if the movie you want is on BD, that's the one they will send you. It's great, because you never have to think about it again.

The service cost the same regardless of if you get BD movies or DVD's.

ps3 is more bang for ur buck.

360 u will pay so much for addons its rediculous.

My opinion: if it was 2 years ago, I would say buy a 360.
But Now: Buy a PS3.

Future potential is all that a person could hope for.

If you have an HD tv, buy the PS3.

if not, the 360.
