Personally I love gamertags, why would I want it to change. Gamertags plus Avatar is cool. I'm happy.:)

Which makes this argument extremely pointless seeing as there is nothing at all similar about gamertags and friendcodes.
Elaborate on nothing and your simply a moron. |
Fixed.
I kind of get what he is saying. If friend codes were implemented in the same way as gamertags, then they will be better. Same thing could be said if gamertags were implemented like friend codes where you have one for each game.
@Cattmanndann You do get a name. SSBB, and I beleive Mario Kart(don't have it) allow you to make a name.
@steven: No it's not (despite you making a couple of good ones in the first page), only the people don't seem to get the point i'm making here.
Friendcodes do offer anonymity (did i spell it even remotely correct?), but that's just because how Nintendo handles the friendcode system. Adding a voice chat to Animal Crossing kinda destroys the whole "protect the children" illusion.

i wont pay 50$ a year for some shitty friend code.
@bdbdbd: I didn't say that you intended it to be a joke thread, just that it was a joke thread. I'm really not sure about you, I am sure about the thread though. It's hilarious that you have 85 responses to something that isn't going to happen. I normally wouldn't want to point out and kill the joke; but some of my friends (not friends per se) in here who love their pseudonyms are blowing gaskets... I worry about their health.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
@SC: Yes! You got it. Just the thing i'm talking about. The only thing that would in reality change, would be the easier way to create an account.
Let's take an example; You'd come to VGChartz and the frontpage would say "register to view content", instead of browsing the news, forum and sales before registering. So, how many of us would have registered? This is the situation i'm saying the friendcode system would make better. Everyone would still be telling how great XBL is, functionality would still be the same as before, but since creating an account would happen automatically, without any effort, it would be easier to get people to come in and pay for their XBL use.

@steven: Oh, i got you wrong in the first place. Although i was going to mention that some people seem to be trying to make this as one (i'm not pointing this at you), but the longer the thread goes, more VG$ i'm going to earn. Besides, i would really love to read peoples thoughts about why it would/wouldn't happen. The reason why i think it would, is because easier to access system would make more money for M$. There's a reason why Wii Shop Channel is "one button push away" instead of "filling out dozen forms about you and your credit history".

Oh ok. It does sound kind of better. Less of a hassle, and also allows for some of the more casual people or kids to connect to XBL without the hassle of giving email addresses, gamertag names, passwords, etc. And you still get to keep the functionality that the gamertag has. You still get to name your profile. You still have acheivements. You still send messages to your friends. And you only need to know their friend code once, and it is only one friend code.
The more i think about it, the more I think you're right.
I think the best way for them to go would be to have both.
Friend codes, online play on games for $50
Optional Gamertags for an extra $25.
That way casual gamers and parents can decide for themselves and Snobcore can pay for the dangerous, inefficient thing they like.
