The more i think about it, the more I think you're right.
I think the best way for them to go would be to have both.
Friend codes, online play on games for $50
Optional Gamertags for an extra $25.
That way casual gamers and parents can decide for themselves and Snobcore can pay for the dangerous, inefficient thing they like.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
