I knew this would have better sales than average prediction league guesses. I made a comment about it in the "which will sell more SC4 360 or PS3" thread.
Two words as to why: Good Marketing. I have no doubt this games tv spots helped it push units significantly.
2m shipped makes sense to me. I think Soul Calibur 1 did 1m shipped week one for Dreamcast or something like that.
Soul Calibur 2 was the first game on the new systems (PS2/Xbox/GC) and they each had exclusive characters...
SC3 was on platform only - PS2 and I don't think it had exclusive characters...
So SC4 is on new platforms again with 'exclusive' characters (or not hehe) so it seems to follow the SC2 pattern...

Well I can tell you almost all my friends got it. The create a player is very popular. Certaintly doing alot better then I expected.

Yes. What about largely hyped games get more first week shipments don't people understand. The more hyped and brand appeal a game has the more willing retailers are to stock their warehouses and stores with copies thinking the title will sell fast and they can have continuous supply. I mean it's really not a hard concept to understand. Meaning at times there could be well over 800,000 copies sitting on shelves.

you have to get glasses if a Ps3 game looks anywhere NEAR a dreacast game... and in every review (plus i own both) it clearly states the graphics are top notch. i bet you dont even have an HD tv either.....

almost everyone on my xbl friendlist has bought sc4 and we play it every day, its a great game. graphics,gameplay and online are awesome. sc4 for me is the best fighting game, i think sc4 will have sold around 2 million copies by early september.

I think Namco speaks about games shipped but it seems vgchartz undertrackes the game !
When 2 millions games are shipped, I think it means 1 million have been sold
Retailers buy the game in comparison with request , so it means Soul Calibur IV sells well.
A know there are a lot of people playing the game on my friends list, some of the guys i have not seen online in months until this game came out.
According to Chart track SCIV was a the topo af UK (ps3 + x360). But Wii Fit was bigger than the 2 single versions.
So i suppose VGC data are correct. Not a big start for SC4 in Europe...
