Forums - Website Topics - User Modding

Non Mod users should be able to moderate a thread with votes like a Thumbs Up/Down.  If a thread gets so many thumbs down it doesn't display on the front page.  It would be useful for a time like now when some retard is spamming about VGC inflating 360 numbers.

^yeah this would be pretty good, for cases like this

tag:"reviews only matter for the real hardcore gamer"

The only problem is that "that" would just be another way for fanboys to derail threads.

Then add some type of "Karma" system where you got "mod" points so you only get them if people mod your posts as good or something. So people who don't contribute much to threads won't get any points and therefore can't abuse the process.

Slashdot uses something similar to that and it works nicely.

Nay, it should be a "Fanboy" system.

Users should be able to vote posts with Fanboy points for various companies (or neutral).

Then we should be able to see ratings of various people in their post, that way we can tell their levels of fanboy-ism.

We could even have monthly fanboy leaderboards for who made the most fanboyish posts in the month. Of course, to be in those you have to stay unbanned for an entire month.

We could then expand this to a fanboy-ism filter.  We would then only have to read posts with certain levels of fanboy-ism.

It would be true fanboytopia.

This community isn't capable of self-policing.

I think this was under consideration a while back. I'll talk to ioi and see what ever happened to this.

Ability to edit posts should be awarded to non-mods who have posted over 2000 posts. Imagine giving this power to newbies?

It could be expanded to highly considered mods in training. Give them limited power to modify posts and remove them, see how they handle it. Lots of people can post while keeping their bias separate, but how many let power get to their heads?
