Japanese video game publisher Square Enix Co. Ltd. confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII will launch in 2009 in Japan on the PS3, exclusively.

Fans have been clamoring for further information in regards to Final Fantasy XIII.

They received it as Square Enix announced in Tokyo that the game will release as an exclusive to the Sony PS3 in Japan in 2009.

In North America and Europe though, the game will ship on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

There has yet to be any confirmation though as to when the game will release in North America and Europe.

EDIT: Aparently it may just be a demo on March.... SOURCE in the FFVII Advent Children game...

EDIT2: actually if I read my 2nd source fully, it confirms that FFXIII will release in 2009. Obviously after March, so probably Q3 or Q4 release.

At its DK Sigma 3713 event in Japan, Square Enix has revealed that it plans to release a playable PS3 demo of Final Fantasy XIII in March 2009. According to a GameSpot report the demo will be bundled with the Japanese Blu-ray release of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

The demo disc will also include new trailers for Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII (mobiles and PSP).

Square Enix also confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII is scheduled for a worldwide release sometime in 2009. How close this date is to the March demo is unknown.

FF13 is turning out to be a huge faking mess. Its like SE does not know wtf they are doing with their biggest franchise.

So demo in march, japan release in 09 and ww release in 09 .....

FF XIII will be released after SE's fiscal year, after march, because DQ IX will already be released this FY.
