Forums - Microsoft - XBOX 360 D-Pad is no good...

The good ol 360 D-Pad, this is how it goes for NHL games

"ok line 1"
*line 3 goes on"
"No...line 1"
*line 2 goes on"
"WTF, LINE 1"
*goalie is pulled*

The other problem with the 360 controller are the face buttons, I find they can be unresponsive after playing a PS3 controller. The PS3 controller I just tap the button and it works. With the 360 controller, I actually have to push the button and they have "gummy" feel to them.

Plenty un-official XBOX 360 pads that do the job.

For the original Xbox, I actually preferred the Madcatz controller

And I would third that. For FPS games, the mirrored analogs on the PS3 aren't as good as staggered analogs. Both suck compared to KBM but that's another story... For racers, you're allowed much finer control over the 360 triggers than the convex PS3 triggers (which are a ridiculous idea... who thought convex is a good shape for triggers?

Were it not for the fact that the triggers are the most likely thing to break on the 360 controller and they break fairly easily, it would be clearly superior.

Really ? Never heard people crying about their broken triggers.

Haven't tried this myself but it seems like it would work

"Bolshe, luchshe, I kruche"

PS3 D-pad is far superior, but The 360 triggers are better to Judge. Im Good I prefer fighters anyway ;)

If you like the feel of the 360 controller, but find the d-pad unresponsive, you can fix the problem yourself. Check this link:

http://www.ufighterx.com/guides/videogame/360dpadfix/360dpadfix.htm

You can fix a wired controller fairly easily. Wireless controllers are a bit more difficult; you'll need to special order the tool to open to casing.

There was also a guy at doacentral who would mod 360 controllers by replacing the d-pad with the d-pad from the old Xbox Controller S. Personally though, I wasn't too fond of the d-pad on the Controller S.

I've stopped using 360 D-pad in fighting games and just use analog stick. I was very surprised at how easily it was to do dragon motions with the analog stick. D-pads can go extinct for all I care now.

Yeh, I am certainly not a great fan of the face buttons as well
