Forums - Sales - Demand for Wii still outpaces supply

I don't know if I agree that Halo can push the 360 back past the Wii, if the Wii passes the 360 this summer. At current WW weekly sales rates 360 would have to jump around 140K to pass Wii weekly sales. Even Pokemon didn't move that many pieces of hardware. I also expect that Nintendo will be shipping at least an extra 50K (if not 100K) units per week around this time.

I agree on this post. If Wii passes the xbox360 WW before the launch of Halo3 and GTA4, those games won't be enough to get the xbox360 passed Wii WW. The single reason is spelled Japan. With around 250k Wii sold in Japan alone, those games needs to almost double the sales of the 360 in both USA and EU to be able to get it to pass the Wii.

If the xbox360 is still in the lead when Halo3 and GTA4 is launched we might see xbox360 holding the lead some months longer. Of course this might change if Microsoft finally lower the price to 300 USD for the premium.

EDIT: Halo3 is launched the 25 of september. If Wii continues to sell at least 60k/week more in Japan than xbox360, Japan alone will lower the 360 lead with 780k. That is half the lead xbox360 has now. So it can be an intressting autum.

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

Halo alone can't do it, but Halo accompanied by a price cut could move a lot of 360s.

Man, i'm really glad i got my Wii on launch... I was even considering NOT camping out, because surely they would be available in december 2006 when the demand died down, LOL. guess not!

So how is this news exactly? It would be news if it wasn't...

Well there was a Wii is avaible thread that was up. How come you didn't post this there?

Instead you posted it looks like supply is catching up with demand.

there will always be threads on availability for the Wii until 2 months after it isn't.

BTW I can't think of a console that was sold out for 7 months. If it is still sold out in august it will be sold out the rest of the year.

LOL exactly my point... if the Wii demand is catching up to supply this is news, if it isn't it's the same thing continuing hence not news...

Dude... it's 7 months after launch and STILL hundreds of people line up at the Nintendo World stores... are you on crack? that's newsworthy.

Ok... so do we make a  thread about this every week? No. You make a thread when there is a change in the situation.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Nah, this is still news. News that demand STILL outpaces supply. The Wii bubble isn't bursting any time soon.

Breaking news. PS3 supplies are still higher than demand. I think it's newsworthy because nothing has changed but we have to say it again as news once more...

What? I thought the PS3 sold 5.5 million already so supplies must be close to sell out right?

A thead is necessary when people are constantly saying: "I think the Wii is slowing down!" If the Wii-is-a-fad threads would go away, so would threads like this one, I suspect. For example:

"Looks like supplies are starting to meet demands..."

And

"people are actually seeing them normally while before it was literally impossible to do so meaning it's getting to the point of meeting demand in areas."

You wrote those three days ago. Come now, Ck, you can't write stuff like this, and then complain when people post evidence to the contrary.
