@Montana... are you referring to the Democratic party currently in charge of the congress with the LOWEST approval rating on record? (roughly half of Bushie's approval rating on average... how sad is that?) But hey, it is indeed a free country so whatever floats your boat.

Honestly though, this year's election is basically like choosing the GREATER of two evils... and although I'd take McCain over OsamaObamaYomamma any day of the week, i just hope that whoever does win does so with a clear majority of the vote so that we dont have to hear the left-wing libtards complain about stolen elections and voter disenfranchisements and all that other BS.... like it or not Bush won the last election fair and square with a clear majority of the vote (51%), something Clinton didn't do in EITHER of his election victories.

Inspired political commentary, reminescent of the Federalist Papers and the better works of Lincoln and Holmes.

The irony of this guy calling people "tards" is astounding. Think about it too long and your nose will begin to bleed.

"In charge?" You phrase it as if the Democratic Party has taken ultimate control over congress. Perhaps they have the majority of the representatives, but they aren't exactly "in charge." And besides, why do you think Congress has such a low approval rating? It's certainly not the fault of the Democrats. And I guess I'd have to live in a free country to have a differing opinion from you.

As for your second paragraph, it speaks for itself.

Have you been keeping up with the news lately?  On Friday Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi decided that amidst the debate for offshore drilling and gas prices she'd rather shut down Congress, including all lights and cameras, and go on their annual 5-week vacation then listen to the Republican side of the debate and do something to alleviate high gas prices... God forbid they actually get something DONE for once!

Circa November 2006... “The American people voted to restore integrity and honesty in Washington, D.C., and the Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history,” Pelosi said.

Right, thats why she she turned off all the lights and cameras so nobody could hear the Republican side of the debate.

And i agree with you that the Republicans are no saints either... 6 years in control and they didn't do jack squat either, but now the shoe is on the other foot, and after sweeping elections in '06 the Democrats have failed to deliver on almost everything they promised... for example no troop withdrawl from Iraq yet (there was a surge instead, which worked BTW).

@nightdragon83, talk about skimming the top of that event. lol.

At first EVERYONE had left less a small handful of republicans and one democrat. The others had all decided that they had hit a wall and needed the time off to clearly rethink and then readjourn again on the topic. However, the small handful of people took advantage of that and then started blowing horns to say they were the only ones still working and everyone else just wanted to leave. haha. Then they started calling their other republicans to hurry down and join the fight, they had already left, since it was now going to be a good political move and look good on Fox news.

Bah. idiots. There are many times its a good idea to sleep on it and start again later. This was one of those times. They were getting no where. Instead the handful of thick headed people tried to use this as a political move to make the other party look bad even though the greater majority of their own party had left already as well.

@superchunk LoL true... there's no denying that the Repubs were milking it for all its worth and doing some grandstanding to try to score political points out of it.

My original point was just to show that Congress has hardly accomplished anything since the Democrats took control in '06, promising "change" along the way, and now they're saying the same thing again in '08, when in reality if Obama wins nothing will really change, it'll just be business as usual except the Democrats will have control of the House, Senate, and Presidency just as the Repubs did for 6 years, and look how much that ended up accomplishing.

At the end of the day I take McCain over Obama because of his continued support of the war even when it was (and still is somewhat) unpopular, and he was one of the few to actually support the much-needed troop surge... Obama said in several interviews that even after the surge proved to be a success he still wouldn't have supported it.

If McCain and Obama were beers, McCain would be Busch Light and Obama would be Marx Light... I'll take Bush over Marx any day of the week.

Obama in just about every way.

I do like McCain's energy policy a little more because he is pro-nuclear.

The Democrats are the only ones in this country who can undo all the damage we have done to ourselves over the last eight years.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Meh, doom and gloom reaches so far back in our history. You think our present situation is that much more frightening than several we've faced already? What about the energy crisis in the 1970s (along with an unpopular war)? What about the supposedly unstoppable Axis powers? What about the 40 year conflict wherein two superpowers has enough nuclear arms to blow up the world several times over? What about the War of 1812 when the U.S. was on the verge of becoming British property again?

So really, this is no more frightening than all of the other crap people have been scared about.
