Price on this site is $229 plus you can get a 5% cashback and free shipping. As far as I can tell this is a new system.

Is this the beginnning of the eventual price reduction to $199?

but that's not $218 today, now is it?

That's like saying PS3 is only 299, if you apply for a Sony card and get 100 bucks for it. It's not MRSP and thus shouldn't be lumped together like that.

 

now to mention you have to wait for that 5% to get back to you.

The difference from the Sony card is that you're not signing up for a credit card. The program is free and there are not obligations. In addition, the credit card option is a one time deal. Cashback you can use on other stuff and combine with coupons and sales. I've gotten some incredible deals on shoes by combining shoes on sale, with 30% off coupons and 15% cashbacks.

Basically they are just bribing you to use their search engine. You buy something by clicking on one of their links and 60 days later they mail you a check with your cashback.

Yeah, you can use the cashbacks on anything, although some vendors give better cashbacks than others. You kind of have to dig a bit to find the best deals, but like I said you can get some amazing deals on certain things like shoes. Electronics are a bit harder to find deals on.
