That's like saying PS3 is only 299, if you apply for a Sony card and get 100 bucks for it. It's not MRSP and thus shouldn't be lumped together like that.

The difference from the Sony card is that you're not signing up for a credit card. The program is free and there are not obligations. In addition, the credit card option is a one time deal. Cashback you can use on other stuff and combine with coupons and sales. I've gotten some incredible deals on shoes by combining shoes on sale, with 30% off coupons and 15% cashbacks.
