Didn't know that. But in that case I say
Halo 3, GTA IV, Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Galaxy.

This is the kind of list I like seeing. Really interesting stuff.
I think it will be interesting to see how the big upcoming games do first week.
I expect two games to break 1 million opening week: GTA IV and Halo 3.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!
This would be far more interesting if it was top-selling games of 2007, period. The first week doesn't matter much.
For example, Nintendogs has sold 770K copies already this year, more than Lost Planet, and soon to repass Crackdown, the #6 and #3 games on the list. Wii Play, the #9 debut, is (I think), the #2 game of the year so far, tracking well ahead of GoWII, the #2 game on the list. Etc.
"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."
Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
Halo 3 is a given
Same is GTA IV ( maybe not if we consider each version apart)
SSBB and Galaxy are probable too.
No one else has a real chance.
I don't think Galaxy will do 1 million opening week. SSBB has a shot.

Then make that list. Why are you complaining about this list? I find it very interesting to see how the first week sales went.
You just don't like the list cause the Nintendo games didn't have as big opening weeks as hardcore games (most cases) but that was already known and we already know that Nintendo games are selling like crazy so what is the point of coming in here and saying that this list is pointless but to wave the Nintendo flag once more?
It's known that Casual games have better legs (if successful) and hardcore games have big opening weeks (or games with very large established fanbases ie Pokemon).

I think in the long term, Galaxy will do over 5 million in America, beating Brawl. But Brawl could easily have a bigger first week, due to the demographic, and has a better shot at a 1 million first week.
Halo is the only shoo-in, IMO. GTA will sell more between the 2 formats in the long run, but Halo is a far more front heavy franchise, and GTA is selling into an absolutely tiny install base compared to what SA had.
Between multiple formats, Madden, Guitar Hero III and GTAIV could all hit 1 million first week.

Didn't Pokemon Diamond/Pearl sell over a million in it's first 5 days?
Quantumn-Tarantino already has a top selling games of 2007 done. I didn't want to just re-do his list. Feel free to look at it.
My point on this chart was to cross-refference his list(s), to show how 1st week openings do and do not affect total gross sales.
For instance, Wii Play. It had a mediocre start, but continues to sell well. Likewise, Guitar Hero 2 had a great opening, and a great start. This is in contrast to games such as God of War 2, and Lost Planet. GoW2 has barely achieved a 2.1 multiplier, and Lost Planet is *just* at 3, despite having a 450k first month.
Not only this, I'm going to work on opening week multipliers for weeks 5, 10 and lifetime, so one we can start actually being able to predict total sales for various games. In Japan, we can reasonably predict RPGs (1.5~2.1x from launch week), but outside of that, we have no true data.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

in japan alot of the dragon quests and final fantasy's sell over one million first week some sell close to 2m. i think DQ8 on ps2 sold over 2m!!!!!
