there is a MAJOR difference between eBay and Walmart??? Mainly... if you don't like it within a certain period.. or god forbid, it doesn't even work to begin with, you can still return it to Walmart.

If they really hit at that price I'll pick one up :P I REFUSE to pay for live, so that's no skin off my back, although the lack of hard will serve up a few issues >_>; Maybe I can convince my roomate to upgrade his to the biggest model and just steal his 20g :P I like the idea of game installs ^_^

The warranty depends on the retailer. You do seem completely unfamiliar with what eBay is, and considering it's popularity, you're basically living under a rock asking these types of questions. Why don't you go to the site and see with your own eyes what it is?

An advantage of eBay over Walmart is that I don't have to worry about losing my receipt on eBay for returns, but I have to at Walmart. Secondly, if I open up a retail 20 GB from Walmart and it doesn't work, Walmart isn't taking it back. They're going to tell me to go through Microsoft.

I truly was. In fact I was unaware that you could use any old Laptop HD drive on the PS3 untill I heard it on this forum which made me assume that the 360 could do so as well. Looking at it logically though now it does make sence that the 360 uses a proprietary HDD since the 360 Sku price variations are huge. They could not have pulled this off unless they used one or people would just by arcades and upgrade them with a cheap HD.

Unfortunately the 360 is still not a good deal for my bedroom TV. I would not use it for online play as there is no Internet connection in my bedroom and the modem + live gold would add another chunk of cash pushing the 360 past ps3 costs.

Idealy I could get another ps3 with BC but half a "G" is too much for a "side console". Now I never had a PS2 so I was looking into that but the low rez is a turnoff as this is a very nice TV (46 inch 1080p sony bravia).

i was going to defend myelf but i dont have to know you have basicly done it for me, i have no problem with ebay and love the fact that i can get more gamefor my buck...
when my system was ganked i did go to walmart for the 299 new sku,
but then i went to ebay for wifi adapter, 60 bucks (20 extra dollars for games) 15 for an extra wired controlerand them spent about 30 bucks and got crackdown, mass effeect, and saints rowm then also tenchu z
so i am not going to compalin

What's so funny is hearing people that think it's so unsafe shopping over eBay. I have bought off there a few hundred times and have gotten what I asked for in the condition I expected every single time. You'd be surprised at how well the reputation system works eBay-haters.

Also good luck retro game shopping at Walmart. I heard they've got a great N64 and Saturn selection there.

On eBay I can buy things for my 360 that cannot even be purchased elsewhere, like custom made arcade sticks built from real arcade cabinets. They put Hori fighting sticks to shame and are custom built for you on eBay for $40-70. Good luck even finding a Hori fighting stick at Walmart, let alone what I can get off eBay.
