and there is absolutely nothing nintendo is doing that makes me think their dominance will last more than one generation.
kind of like the NES dominance, followed by slowly decaying sales of the SNES and N64 in the face of competition.

SNES still dominated and had more competition than Wii has. (TG16, Genesis, NeoGeo)
But that is besides the point. Nintendo never needed "domination" they make compelling hardware and software that they sell at a profit. They could have kept the GC the way it was and released 5 more Nintendo franchises and still had multi-million sellers. But that wasn't very good for long term strategy.
Looking at the behavior of Nintendo from portables and consoles, I don't see a single instance where there wasn't innovation. Not always hardware related innovation, but gameplay innovation.
Nintendo has always been a company that has innovation in gameplay and milks franchises for all they are worth.
Wii, to me, looks a lot like the original Gameboy. Not as pretty but more functional for normal households.
