Forums - Nintendo - Wii official running out of steam ?

Which Wii official are you talking about? I'm sure Miyamoto still has plenty of gems left in him.

This is more good news for third party develoipers for the Wii. They will not have to compete with a constant stream of AAA items from Nintendo for the Wii. Assuming the third parties pick up the slack, there should be enough to keep the wii selling strong for 10 years.

Wooooo! It's now official, the Wii is a fad, even nintendo have run out of use for it

(just to be safe, that was sarcastic)

I really don't know about that... when they say original ideas, I'm quite sure they mean completely new stuff (Nintendogs, Brain Age, Wii Sports/Fit).  I doubt games like Super Mario Galaxy, SSBB, or a new Zelda qualify for this.  I'm not saying third parties are in trouble, but they're still gonna be competing with new Nintendo titles (not to mention the old ones, that will sell until the Wii is dead).

Threads like these are really getting pretty sad. I almost feel bad for the people who create them, seeing Nintendo do so well really drives them crazy. :)

I agree.

Also the PS3 is gonna lose steam because they're releasing a MGS and a Resistance game in the same year! OMG! Plus a Killzone so soon!

Plus MS has wasted all their good IPs and released their halo and GoW already. For shame.

It's such a terrible thing that federal law requires only one game release per franchise per console generation, right?

Ermm no ? just that Brawl and Mario kart are probably amongst the biggest titles for Nintendo this whole generation ?

While i can agree on brawl being one of the biggest titles of the generation, MKWii isn't. It's just another little yearly release that's doing crazy well because there are a huge number of wiis in existence and it's actually fun to play.

Brawl is selling really well, even better than Melee, and Melee alone made the Gamecube a non-failure.

Oh, and if Nintendo is in trouble for releasing Brawl and MKWii, then so are Sony or MS (depending on what flavor of fanboy you are) for already releasing what is WILL be their biggest games of the generation (Halo 3/MGS4)

Anyway, the claim in the linked article is that nintendo isn't really thinking about any more accessories. Again, if not releasing accessories = 'running out of steam', then the PS3 is way more out of steam with, what, 3 accessories (SixAxis, DualShock3, PS3 Eye) and the 360 is super boned with no major accessories! (Sarcasm)

Note: I'm not a fanboy. Really.

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

Acolyte of Disruption

MGS4 is definitely not Sony's biggest game this generation.

I think its good that Nintendo accept that they're need to looking for more ideas ,because good ideas didn't come everyday.I can wait for Nintendo to perfect those things first before released it .:3

I have to disagree with you on this one. Less competition = bad for us the consumers. We need good games and we don't really care if they come from Nintendo or from 3rd party developers.

Yes I agree Wii will run out of steam once 25-30% of people have one, just like the DS in Japan.

What's there to argue over?

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
