Forums - Sales - Will RE4:Wii Edition meet sales expectations?

I don't think anybody is claiming that it'll beat the PS2 or Gamecube sales, we're saying it's likely to beat Capcom's expectations of 420,000.

Yeah, if the port beat the original, something is wrong.

As the Wii sells more, its lifetime sales could be very good, but it'll take a while to get there.

Also, Legend, in Dead Rising, mannequin torsos = best durability/kill ratio in the game.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

I personally hope that it beats the previous versions, but it's unlikely. By far my favourite resident evil game.

Then again, I'd much rather see an indie developed game hit a huge sales point. Nothing wrong with corporation, but I'd love to see a team of 10-20 talented individuals get most the money back from all their hard work.

See Ya George.

At least following a comedians own jokes makes his death easier.

RE4 apparently will have longer legs than a typical FPS. like on amazon, it's now ranked AHEAD of mario party. mario party probably sells more copies in physical stores, but it still comes as a surprise to me.

the $29.99 price point is a big deal.

quite frankly, i have my doubts if RE4 sold ONLY 86k in its first week in the US, based on just how strongly it's been showing on amazon. we'll see.

the Wii is an epidemic.

Alright so 134k units have actually been sold of RE4: Wii Edition in the Americas. Meaning that if 150k was the initial shipment then they have pretty much sold out of that. Meaning at least another 50k will have to be shipped for this happening week. So at the least 200k has been shipped to the Americas.

In Japan, Media Create at least has it at 86k, and this at 76k, so we'll round off to 80k overall. Meaning that if 100k was the initial shipment there then at least another 25k had to be shipped. That's 125k was shipped to Japan so far.

The game just release in the European territories and I would suspect that at least 100k had to be shipped. The game sold quite well there so we can expect that for this week more was shipped.

The 420k shipments that they wanted has easily been sold. Cause that there with all those put us at 425k. Good job Wii fans we've accomplished Capcom's shipment goal for RE4: Wii Edition and more. All in 5 weeks of the Japan launch, 2 weeks of the American launch, and 1 week in the European launch. Hopefully Capcom will reward us with more support for out accomplishment.

it is really truly great, but it should have even sold more. i just can't stand the sales of pokemon battle revolution.  but i think this is an eye-opener for capcom. but the shipment sold out, does it mean it was supply constraint? that it couold have sold more with a bigger shipment.

I can confirm that in my area at least that RE4 did well on the wii. Having missed out on it for the GC, I decided to try it on the wii. I went to 3 stores, target/best buy/gamestop before finally finding it at the 4th store. I really didn't expect this game to have been sold out at so many stores.

One of the gamestops I went to even called another gamestop and they had just 1 copy left. This was just yesterday too. Hopefully Capcom sees that this is a success and bring more mature games out for the wii.

Lets not forget that it has ONLY been out for a few weeks. Wait until the start of next year, and I wouldn't be surprised to see total (shipments?) reach 1m WW - maybe higher.

If anything, releasing Umbrella Chronicles may hurt the sales of the game (RE4).

Well maybe not 1 million but it is good to see that it has already reached Capcom's goal.

well today it comes out here in Australia. Which means there will be at least one more copy sold =D

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

I think you can make that 4 ;)

Two of my friends (and myself) will also be picking up the title - although I may not grab it for a couple of days.

If RE4 can ship 450k in the first 2-3 weeks on sale, I'll be surprised if it doesn't reach 1m shipped within 6 months on sale.

Remember that it IS a budget title, and this greatly changes the purchasing behaviour of gamers. In fact, I'll be surprised if it doesn't SELL 1m copies by Jan '08.
