Forums - Microsoft - I don´t understand! Help me unserstand.

This week end I got more freetime to play games then I had in a while and I decided to finish of some xbox 360 games.

I had not played with the 360 for 3 days and even then it was a short burst of play time as it has been the last couple of months.

I start my 360 to get going with the games and it has RROD on me,

what I don´t understand is how can it RROD on me when it wasn´t on and the last 2 hours I played were no problem?

There is a fan on at all times on it so the summer heat shouldn´t be any problem. Can someone explain this to me?

If it's caused by temperature changes affecting the soldering, then it wouldn't have to be at peak temperature to RROD. It's the constant heating and cooling that does enough cumulative damage to cause it to fail.

At any rate, sorry to hear about your RROD.

the xbox 360 can break down at any moment whether you play for hours or seconds, very unpredictable system, the 360 can keep you warm this winter, it kept my room warm, great games mediocre console unfortunately.

lol, that sucks maybe you can get the new 60gig.

you could have kept your 360 in freezer and the chances of your 360 getting the rrod would remained the same.

but I have/had a fan on at all times even when the console was shut down, shouldn´t that have helped avoid what just happened?

Yeah, wait until they sell all the 20gb models before you return it, then you get extra hd space and apparently a cooler running console

I don't really know enough about it to say. Obviously, it shouldn't be happening at all.

Out of curiosity, do you know when your Xbox was manufactured or which chip you have?

there is no returning with this one, I will be going for a new one but it´s going to take a while to gather the money. In the mean I have to borrow one of my brothers when i feel like playing the 360.

I will get back to you on that I moved the console to his place and I am heading there now. But I can tell you it was bought just a 1-2 months after launch but an exact date i haven´t got.
