Forums - Sales - SONY own Australia

offcourse they own australia. Cause they sent shit loads down to aus.

Xbox360 has been out for like 16months or so, so you cannot expect the same sales.

Wii nintnedo send fuck all to australia. MY local EB got sent 3 units to it in 3 months after launch. Talk about a shortage.

Also consideirng the PS3 sold about 35K in the first launch month. THen 15K since is nothing big. Its around 5K a month.

If it's true, which I highly doubt, since they come up with this news "right after" Nintendo announced their succes in Australia, well, the PS staff must be dreaming then, they're successful with the PS3 at least... "SOMEWHERE"

The PS3 sold a ton of units everywhere on its first week but after initial demand was satisfied the number of units sold dropped dramatically. Now suppose sales per week went like the following

25,000 + 10,000 + 5,000 + 2,000 + 1,000 + 1,000 + 1,000 + 1,000 + 1,000 + 1,000 + 1,000 + 1,000 = 50,000

And over the same timeframe the Wii has been selling like this

4,000 + 4,000 + 4,000 + 4,000 + 4,000 + 4,000 + 4,000 + 4,000 + 4,000 + 4,000 + 4,000 + 4,000 = 48,000

Certainly, in the time since the PS3 has been released it has outsold the XBox 360 and Wii but it is likely that this will change in the very near future.

In an interview with GameSpot AU, Ephraim quoted figures from data trackers GfK Australia, which show that the PS3 has sold more than 50,000 units since it was launched on March 23, 2007. In comparison, the Wii has sold 100,000 units since its launch on December 7, 2006. "Based on GfK since launch, PS3 has been the number one next-gen console, outselling Wii and Xbox 360 every week, except for last week," Ephraim said

every week except last week ...

i think the number for wii is too high and ps3 low .

wii outsold ps3 just once . it was last week since march 23,2007 because of mario strickers.

just look the top 10 australia with resistence and motorstom

Lmao. Not quite, Sony fanboy.

Any system that launches and has decent launch numbers is going to outsell any other system for quite some time. Even the Dreamcast sold 600k units its first month, and owned everyone for a total of about 3 months before the PS1 overtook it again.

The VGChartz numbers aren't off by much even if it's true - VGChartz has Aus PS3 sales at just 2,500 units (or 5%) under what Sony's official numbers are. And the fact is, they could be skewing the data by rounding up.

And how is NPD off again? If it's off, then it's off on X360 numbers too, and the 360 really sold 200k+ last month like it should.

Stop grasping at straws, expecially those THAT HAVE NEVER POSTED BEFORE WHINING ABOUT DATA. Become a contributor first before starting random data posts!

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

So no more blue-ray sales. M-maybe the PS3 outsold the Wii in Uganda too...

But it's nice to see that some of the PS3's potention has been noticed.

Yep, PR with it's best SPINNING material at it's best.

This is, if not an outright lie, disingenous to the point of fraudulence. It's very disappointing to see any company more or less deliberately spreading misinformation in order to sell their product better. Read the comments following that article at gamespot: everyone who looked at the article is walking away with the impression that the PS3 is dominating Australian sales, which we know is simply not the case.

Shame on any company that would manipulate numbers in this way to sell more units.

I read (a few years ago) that the reason why certain car companies advertize so much is not to attract new customers but is to keep existing customers happy; the illusion that you own a popular and exciting product will keep people comming to buy products in the future.

I was going to post this but seeing I'm new and all. I thought nah. So I posted it on ps forum in au. I do believe it, as I am an Aussie :D Sony is dominate in Oz and once Blue Ray gets out into the wider community, we will see the ps3 soar. I show all my friends and family Blue Ray and they get excited about it. We don;t have many hd dvd around so the main focus is Blue Ray. The ps3 is the cheaper option atm. So I think that side of the ps3 will be a major factor in ps3 sales. Also as the artical says. Harvey Norman ( major multi-store) is selling ps3 as blue ray players.
