IMO its just not the same. I am very glad though anyways, because I know that Mario and Zelda and Smash Bros and Mario Kart and Animal Crossing and Pikmin will solider on for at least 2 more gens...

Basically, we are at a par situation:

HD or Wii is the choice that game makers have.

HD means PS3/Xbox 360 -- few if any non-first-party exclusives because you need sales from both bases to make the business model work.

If you are into standard experiences (such as FPS games or high-tech co-op games), then you are most likely going to put more effort into the HD consoles. (As an aside, I hate when these games are called multi-platform when they are really dual-platform -- and I don't consider the PC a platform of the same type)).

If you are into an experience requiring more physicality (such as having to point at the screen), then you are more likely going to put more effort into the Wii.

Personally, I think even third-parties that try don't fully understand the Wii (no one over 14 seems allowed to appear in an EA commercial).

Nintendo is perfectly able to fill the gaps as the best first-party developer out there (and some consider the best developer period). If the third parties fail to deliver, Nintendo will step in, just like it did with the Gamecube.

What I most want to see happen, and what I think most needs to do happen, and what I think will happen is a lot of development of games for Motion Plus. I've seen a demo and when it comes to games involving physical interaction for example, a light saber duel, or where your exact location in 3 dimensional space is important, it will make all other control system laughable. This can be in hardcore or casual games.

I think Nintendo produce some great titles, Metroid Prime III, Brawl & Galaxy......
so clearly it's possible to create a classic title on the Wii platform, games don't have to be in 1080p to make you want to play..... If that was the case the 10 Million World-of-Warcraft players wouldn't exist....

And yes... a killer app usually takes 2 - 3 years to produce, however saying that Super Paper Mario was great, and although some of the 3rd party ports have been lazy Okami Wii just works!!

Nintendo's dominance means nothing to me, popularity and quality are not synonymous. In fact the Wii is the first Nintendo console that I'm not interested in at all although the DS is a slightly different story thanks to its adventure games.

it means nothing to me. there's always a runaway market leader. however, i do think that they will be dethroned again. because they obviously can't remain at the top for all the generations to come. sony seem likely to steal the crown either next gen, or the gen after, in my opinion.
