You have horrible taste if you hate FLCL

It's not his fault necessarily. From his list I can tell he's a dub watcher. Hence the reason he doesn't like the other Gundams, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, etc. If you chose to watch dub'd anime, I warn you that you will very rarely even be watching the same anime as everyone else.

People should look into some of the more obscure ones too. Things like Detective Conan can be really fun, even if they get a bit repetitious. :) There are also really weird ones like Elfen Lied which can be very good (despite unnecessarily high levels of gore and violence).

Yea, I followed the Conan manga throughout my elementary years but stopped when I came to the US... It gets pretty addictive imo... I just wish there's some progress for Shinichi finding out a clue to return back or about the Mafia... As for Elfen Lied, I agree that it's quite touching and good if you subtract the gore and violence.

Btw, what animes you follow this season? I'm following Hayate no Gotoku, Lucky Star, Seto no Hanayome, Kaze no Stigma, Zero no Tsukaima 2, Nagasarete Airantou, and School Days. I'm planning to follow Kenichi, Higurashi when I finish the 1st season, and Nanoha when I finish the 1st and 2nd...

Since this is an anime thread, what series do you think the screenshot of my avatar is from? ;)

I guess I'm just old school, but I'd take Pokémon.

I think I probably commit the biggest sin in anime, I prefer to watch them dubbed instead of subbed if given the chance to watch them that way.

I'm continuing to watch One Piece, but I've kind of tired of Bleach and Naruto.  Not sure If I'll continue them or not.  I'm also watching Lucky Star, School Days, and Kenichi (I haven't read the manga, but I really enjoyed the first season).  When the new Gundam series (Gundam 00) starts in October I'll be sure to watch it.  It's being directed by Seiji Mizushima (FMA, Neon Genesis Evangelion) so I have pretty high hopes for it.  The last alternate universe I truly enjoyed was Turn A Gundam, which was a great departure for the series from the standard.   That's pretty much it for me this year.  However, I am constantly picking up new animes as I go, so I'm sure I'll end up watching many more than that.

I love that anime where it take 20 episodes to build up a fight/finish a fight..

oh ya its called DBZ.

ROFL

I am WEEzY. You can suck my Nintendo loving BALLS!

It's understandable that you drop Naruto (I dropped it sometime when it was filler. I know the filler ended but meh...). As for Bleach, I dropped it somewhere in the middle of the arc after episode 52 (forgot what it's called). You should also give Hayate no Gotoku - comedy anime about butler and there's a whole bunch of reference and parodies, a lot of which I don't recognize, and really likeable characters; Seto no Hanayome - one of the few romance harems out there that isn't frustrating; and Kaze no Stigma a try.

I would also like to give Gundam a try but there's a whole bunch of them I don't know which to pick (and I don't wanna watch the really old ones). The only mecha anime I like right now is FMP, though (and someone from animesuki forum pointed out that was the only mecha anime that made sense to him/her). Too bad Kyoto Animation is busy with Clannad TV (an anime out of the 2 I'm looking forward the most after this season, along with Shakugan no Shana 2) next season, and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu 2 after that...

Unfortunately if you want to avoid the really old ones you will miss the best ones haha.  Really though if you wanted to skip the old ones the one I recommend first above all else is Turn A Gundam.  The series does have some references to the old ones, but it's really a character driven story, so missing references to the old Gundams won't hurt the experience.  It's a really touching anime, so if you like more character intensive and less "oooh watch the big robots make each other blow up" then I recommend Turn A Gundam or the original Mobile Suit Gundam above anything else.  G Gundam is weird, but it also has some great characters and a touching story.

Other than that, since Gundam 00 is being directed by Seiji Mizushima you can bet there will be a lot of great characters in the series.  After the sellout series Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny, which were made for the sole purpose of selling model kits, I have high hopes for Gundam 00 to return the series to it's roots as an action drama.

I'll be sure to check those three out as well.  I could use some more stuff to watch this year.

Thank you for the suggestion; and seriously, there are so many Gundams out there. Anyway, for Hayate no Gotoku (since you've watch Gundams, you probably would pick out more anime references/parodies than I do, but there's more than just anime reference. There was Metal Gear Solid reference [I checked that on the forum], mentioning about a horror movie, and joking about Sony *S5 released, and there's a narrator; in any case, enough spoiler) ... check out SS-Eclipse's (one of the best joint-groups) release and be sure to get the h264 version for Hayate no Gotoku. For Seto no Hanayome, check out gg group's (unfortunately, they are quite behind, and it's been a month since their last release). For Kaze no Stigma, check out AniYoshi's ...
