Forums - Sales - Netflix and LG (BR Player): Advantage or disadvantage for PS3 & 360?

http://spong.com/article/15939/Netflix_and_LG_Advantage_PS3_or_Xbox_360

So LG is making a BR player that can also stream movies from Netflix.  for about $500.

Advantage sony:  more BR player means more money for Sony and Netflix will take away the advantage of 360 streaming movies from netflix.

disadvantage sony:  take away some PS3 sales?

$500? Good god. I wish Blu-ray players would drop in price.

If it were $200 I'd consider it. $500 forget about it.

I don't think the Netflix thing will make consoles move, but I think it's a nice added feature. I personally am looking forward to it and it might make me buy another 360 for the bedroom, which I was thinking about anyhow due to my living arrangements, but that's where I tend to watch movies.

I think the NEtflix addition cost MS next to nothing, because it's mutually beneficial for Netflix in terms of driving memberships to their service. I know three people personally who are discussing switching from Blockbuster to Netflix because they are gold members of Live and can take advantage of it, pending seeing how well it works. I think it may drive more new Netflix memberships than this will actually spur new console sales.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

$500 is expensive, it will only have a niche market.

pff 500 for it...might actually cuz more ps3 sales after they see that price xp

If Netflix is the only reason to get the LG player, i don't think it effects 360, since 360 costs half of the LG player and PS3 wouldn't be an option anyway. Then again, PS3 is cheaper than the BD player, so it doesn't take away PS3 sales, and if BD player is the reason for your purchase, 360 wouldn't be an option.
But, if you want Netflix and a BD player, then PS360 can't compete.

Sorry to go off-topic, but your hair was whistlin' at me. NOT COOL!

OT: This move won't move players or consoles. Interesting, but it won't.

well if you dont necessary want/need netflix but do want a BD player then the ps3 is the choice...but the only way people will know of the video aspect of the ps3 is if the retailers push it or advertise the hell out of it
