Forums - Sales - Anyone else noticing a lot of Wiis easily available in stores?

Maybe it's just in my local area (Eastern Canada) but I've gone into Wal-Mart twice in the last two weeks and was surprised to find Wiis easily available. The display case they're in was packed full (it holds about 8-10 of them. The first time I saw it I assumed that they must have just gotten in a new shipment and most people weren't aware they were there but that's apparently not the case.

It's very surprising since they were near impossible to get leading up to the last two weeks especially in Canada which is very pro-Nintendo. Anyone else seeing the same thing in their area?

It's the Pokemon effect...  Nintendo shipped a ton of consoles in anticipation of huge sell through rates with their first online Wii game that happens to be Pokemon.  I'm going to assume Pokemon on the Wii will not be the huge hit they expected here...  Also, I have a feeling a lot of store chains have been stock piling extra Wii's, hence the reason we haven't been seeing a lot in stores.  If they have them for the Christmas rush, they'll have something to advertise to draw in customers...  They might have gotten reassurance's from Nintendo on how many systems they'd be able to make for the Christmas rush, so they pushed a lot of the held consoles out the door and into their shops.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Still hovering around 10% Nationwide availability. Has been since January. Starting tommorow is normally when you see it jump to 35% or so. It will hold at 35% until Monday morning after all the stores put them on shelves over the weekend and people come and buy them. Then it goes back down to 11% again until Friday. Been that way all year.

Stores restock end of week, you get a chance to see them on shelves. Weekend hits and people shop. Wii's gone. Over and over and over again.

Yup. You Saw It Coming.

Was in Sudbury, Ontario today. Walmart had about 6 in a case, and they were there all day. Maybe one sold I'm not sure. Also didn't have RE4 Wii edition, which pissed me off. :P Long weekend is coming up so they could just be unloading massive stocks in hopes of big sales.

Sucks to live in LatinAmerica, they cost about 400 bucks. Lots more 360 or PS3s available though, thy retail for 500-550 and 750-800.

Looks like supplies are starting to meet demands...

How so? I would like to hear your interpretation of this anectodal data....

From the fact that people are actually seeing them normally while before it was literally impossible to do so meaning it's getting to the point of meeting demand in areas.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Well if you have blinkers on it looks that way, and that's what you want to believe.

From my perspective, it seems to have been the same all the time, some people see them occasionally but there is never enough of a stock pile for 'demand' to be met.  For demand to be met anyone should be able to walk into any store and get a Wii whenever they want.

Well, that's good in AMerica, but here in Japan is almost imposible to get a Wii, al Akihabara is sold up, and the big stores around Tokyo are also without any Wii's

Well said, OriGin.

Is the DS still supply constrained as well? I have heard that people still line up every week for them.
