We'd be lucky to find unicellular organisms, let alone conscious beings.
Obviously there is no conscious life. The possibility of there being single celled organisms however is thrilling. If there is life on mars then perhaps it can give some insight onto how cellular life forms. I'm really really crossing my fingers that they can discover some sort of cellular life in the water on mars.

I'd hedge my bets on yes.
There was probably vegetation and more complex life on Mars during its 'wet' period. Oh and by complex I'm talking multicellular, not animals.
