That's why companies like Square-Enix and Capcom are trying to make more money in the West, to make up for declining sales of core gamer games in Japan.
Impressive for 360 Soul Calibur. The Square-Enix "Seal of Approval" on the 360 seems to be helping with the situation. I think this will finally convince Sony to look back into jRPGs again, which will be good when having both consoles.

I think FF4 could have done better, but one thing's for sure - it didn't bomb. People throw around the words "bomb" and "flop" a lot, when in fact it's rare for games to really bomb or flop.
Sales have to be judged rationally, according to reasonable expectations (preferably the publisher's expectations when available).

And you could spin it this way too. The new SC4 will outsell SC3 by a large margin regardless of a userbase roughly 10x the size.

It is the first day, at least wait until a month to declare the game being succesful or not BASED ON THE DEVELOPER'S EXPECTATIONS.
It is like Fatal Frame is Resident Evil or something,the series is pretty niche.
