Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
Gears 2 > Gears 1 > Resistance 2 > Resistance 1

Gears 1 more than tripled the sales of the first Resistance, despite heavy bundling of R1. Gears 2 will sell more.
As for Gears 2 outselling Gears 1, it depends on Microsoft's ad campaign--I doubt it, but it's possible. Could do anything from 4-6 million.
R2 will outsell R1, though.

I thought that 2 but then i realised the only reason why gears 1 outsold resistance 1 is because when resistance came out the fan base was puny, now the fan base is only 5 mil behind!
Resistance 1 although a good game also got a big boost because it was the launch title to have.

And yet R1's fanbase (which is what this conversation is about) has barely increased at all.

are you inplying that youre making the argument you expect a launch title to grow completely equal in attach rate for 2 years of a consoles life? Did i get that?
Let me put it to you this way I saw a pre-order listing for these two titles recently for a Gamestop in SoCal. Here is about what it said;
Gears 2 :~80
R2:~7
Think about it for just a second.

LTD means Lifetime To Date, meaning it's being used incorrectly in the OP considering the games in question have not release yet.
As for the sales, it's ludicrous to believe that Gears 2 will fail to sell more than Gears 1 considering it's the only only big shooter coming out for the xbox 360's shooter fanbase in the second half of this year. Many more people have played the first game than the retail sell-through would suggest. Don't forget about sales of secondhand copies which are untracked/untrackable, but which I would bet are significant given the price advantage. Plus you have people who may have rented/gamefly-ed the first and enjoyed it enough to want to pick up the second.
In the end it's going to be like colonelstubbs is saying: Gears 2 > Gears 1 > Resistance 2 > Resistance 1.

If you look at sales, Sony's fanbase don't support, seeing the fraction who actually purchase as opposed to the amount who own the systems. Sony doesnt have a clear response to FPS.
