Forums - Sales - Opinion: 60 gig 360 cannot compete with 80 gig PS3 at $350

The real  question is why buy a 60 gig 360 which only plays DvD's when you could get an 80 gig PS3 that plays blurays for 50 dollers more. Remeber too that a live account will add $50 to the 360 price tag alone. Do you know many people who have a 360 but do not pay for live?

If you want to say "games" heres what the average consumer is really looking at:

GTA 4 Vs. GTA 4

COD4 vs. COD4

HALO3 vs. MGS4.

Gears of WAr 2 vs. Resistance 2

Then there are some other exclusive titles comming for both systems but none of which are really mass system movers.

Because most consumers will not buy a more expensive toy to watch movies on. That has always been true, and will always be true. There were what maybe 40-50 million PS2s soldin the US? How many DVD players do you think were sold over that same time period? A ton more.

As for the rest well, I know of no one personally who pays for Xbox Live actually. My group of friends is highly a typical though so it is surely not close to representative. Also, there is more to gaming than the next big shooter game. None of those games you listed are anywhere near appealing to me as a gamer. Based on the sales numbers on this website, I would say your average consumer is looking at a very different selection of games when they are contemplating a purchase.

yeah it can't,cuz ps3 have big advantage blu-ray and exclusive games

I consider that

80gb PS3 >> Xbox360 60gb

PS3 will continue to top Xbox360 EVEN AFTER THE Xbox360 price cut.

With the help of PAL+Japan sales, PS3 will outsell Xbox360 and be at "-4 M" by the end of the year.

I highly doubt that given the way events have transpired in the past 2 weeks, and that was only a temporary cut for 1 sku.  If the rumored cut across all 3 this fall is true then the effect will be even greater.

I think that with bluray winning the HD format war average consumers are going to be looking for a bluray player this year. HD TV sales will be bigger then ever and so will the PS3's. I predict PS3 outselling 360 2 to 1 q4 for that reason alone.

Note: I'm sure some would argue that 360 will sell more then Ps3 because of games but that argument sounds like somthing that would have been valid in 2006 and not so much today.

Dude, it's a video games console. Last time i checked, they still play computer games today.

I think he's saying that the quality and quantity of PS3 titles is now near equivalent to the 360, whereas, last year, the Ps3's output was thought lackluster, and thus the argument is now incorrect.

Okami

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.
