Forums - Gaming - How come PSP is only console which actually owns Ds and Wii at Japan?

If there would be lots of other games (which have come out lately) than these Monster Hunter Portable 2g,God of war,FF crisis core it could own at Others and America. But there is coming lots of game only for Japan.

I personaly would like to have some Tales,Magaman,GTA,shooters and action (Devil may cry ??)

i really don't know.....times change....lets see if PSP will maintain steady sales for the rest of the year(in japan)
i guess i underestimated the PLAYSTATION BRAND

PSP is doing great in Japan! That's good to see actually, as it is a great portable device.

The reason I see it doing better than Nintendo in Japan is two things. First is the DS has saturated Japan to a point in which there are not very many new users buying the unit. Second thing would be that home consoles are just not as popular as they used to be in Japan. The Wii is selling up to 5X more consoles than the other consoles in the same time period, but is still being beat out by both the portable devices.

Just kiss the tip.

Sony released some good games and introduced the Slim&Lite.

The PSP is just "hip" now. A lot of that has to do with the fact that Monster Hunter is a huge craze, and that the PSP Slim revitalized the image of the PSP in Japan. Not only that, but I imagine it has been marketed like crazy. The Japanese are addicted to handhelds as the nation is consistently crowded and busy. The DS has saturated its own demand, and the PSP has taken its place.

Cause DS has sold over twice as much.

I Expect PSP to still fall short of DS by quite a bit in japan.

As for Wii? I'd guess PSPs multimedia functions. Since the Wii is still selling more software by a bit.

That and handhelds just seem more popular in japan then everywhere else.

Too bad its software sales are not reflecting the HW success.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Yup.. they see videogames as an escape from the busy and crowded world around them.. their own little space.. and who wouldnt like to have their own little place always with them..
