Forums - Gaming - Should I buy a PSP or a DS tommorrow?

Usually, I am not interested into handheld games, but now I am considering one. I am underway on the USS Bataan, and I arrive in Norfolk VA tommorrow at noon. Ever since I was on this ship, I was bored as hell. I have been working twelve hour days and I have been out to see for 2 weeks straight without a cell phone or anything. I want something to do because I will be underway again for another while next week. I am interested in the PSP a little more because I hear that it will be gettin a friends list and more online support. Also, I have a PS3, so I can remote play. DS on the other hand has that nice dual screen, but the hardrive isnt that big. Also, the PSP has music, photos, and internet. The DS has pokemon, which is a plus, someone please persuade me which handheld is the best. Give me details on both and great games please and I will be back in 20mins because I have a haircut appointment

Depends what your looking for and your gaming taste. I personally love my DS...

Former something....

honestly I agree with the above. If you do not have an iphone, get an iphone. I only really carry my PSP with me for long car trips where I'm not driving while the iphone never leaves my side.

As to the DS/PSP choice, I would take PSP hands down. First the PSP has better games if you're an adult (crisis core, chains of olympus, star ocean 1 and 2 coming out, a few GTA/MGS games ect.) plus there are a lot of PS1 games you can download from the PSN store and put on your PSP (the best being casilvania symphony of the night, by far the best PS1 era game). Also you can make skype calls (thats right! with wifi free phone calls!), play all kinds of movies if you put them on the memory stick on a computer or the PS3, play some PS3 games remotely, stream music and more. It is a very cool device that does way more then just play games. It's kind of an iphone stand in if you can't afford an iphones monthly charges (has internet, wifi features, media features ect).

On DS the hard drive is more or less nonexistant, you can't store things on it.  The PSP on the other hand holds memory sticks which are getting to 8 or 16GB in size (thats a full season of a TV show or every song you own twice or 32 PS1 games.)

yes i do because nintendo has said its target gamers age was 8 years old for many of there franchises

Completly depends on your taste in games. Some people can get more out of the PSP, some people can't stand it.

Look at the top games, look at what you want out of the handheld - If you are really stumped you'd probably be better of with the DS because the names of games on PSP should be enough to convince a fan.
