Forums - Nintendo - The worst thing that can happen to Zelda.(That can actually happen)

The worst thing that can happen to Zelda has already happened. The series has become utterly stale. The quality is still there, but the world has become terribly shallow compared to other games. The worst thing that can happen is if the format is still honored.

Zelda needs to start incorporating aspects of other games to gain some serious depth. There needs to be an actual story rather then a convenient excuse. There needs to be some role playing mechanics added. The world needs to become more interactive. Combat needs a drastic overhaul.

Basically you want Fable, if Fable was the best game ever created.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Basically Zelda has become so formulaic it is not even a laughing matter. Enter the hero no back story just that he is chosen. His first order of business seems to be to visit a dungeon the goal to find a treasure that gives him a new power. Then he uses the new power to kill the boss to get a redundant item he needs to collect. Then he repeats the process twenty more times till he fights Gannon. Along the way you will find tired puzzles you were solving ten years ago, and will scour the landscape for heart pieces, and other such stupidity.

What Zelda needs is to borrow some of the better aspects from Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fable, and even Assassins Creed. Incorporate an overall story with events, and some moral dilemma. Let Link have some customization, and just open up Hyrule in general. Let link effect the world he inhabits give him some other real goals. Finally flesh out a decent combat system let players change up how they are killing the monster. Let them try spells, and let link navigate the environment more freely. In other words let link jump, run, and climb.

Anyway I already have four Zelda games that follow the exact same formula. There just is no reason to go through the same thing all over again. For once take the game off the rails, and make the game more dynamic.

^^That.

voice acting. That truly is the worst thing that could happen to it that might. too often today devs think that telling a story needs words when it really doesn't. Sometimes expressions and emotions is the best way to tell a story. Go watch the movie Wall-E if ya don't believe me.

As for the series staying stale I always find it funny that when we talk about not moving forward in the industry we take a look at games like Mario and Zelda probably because people love to rant on Nintendo. Yet they never questions those huge influx of stereotypical shooters that hit the market every month that do little to nothing. At least things do change with every now Zelda and Mario and have progressed fine over time. Actually whenever a change is made people freak out more. Hypocritical? I think so.

Dunno why, but I hate the thought of a futuristic/modern zelda.

My thoughts. +1

The worst thing that could Happen to Zelda has already happened, and that's the WW. Nothing could of been worse then that. The first time you saw WW you all had the thought WTF, we all wanted another OoT and Nintendo spit in our face.

As many others, i feel that the worst thing nintendo can do is make a game not too different from TP(i.e stick to the traditional format). what i want is not another new ,improved, slightly darker OOT, but something absolutely unique, like MM. But then ,im almost sure Anouma knows that, and hes cooking something up to blow us away.

I liked Wind Waker. The temples could have been a little better, but other than that it was pretty good.

And Link to the Past is what got me into the Zelda series.. (having only rented Zelda 2 and not being into it much).. so playing another 16-bit Zelda would be cool.

If they casualise Zelda, that would hurt.

If it turned multiplayer...

Sorry but WW is a masterpiece! The fact that you hate it has nothing to do with the quality and artistry of the game.

***All those gamers who trashed WW they only managed to tell to Nintendo ''we don't want changes'' and so they deliver us a OoT clone (TP) with 'general' graphics similar to many other games. So please stop talking about 'explore the series' , 'we want new ideas' and all...

PS: And btw, I really enjoyed TP but all the way through the game I had the same feel of ''stay similar to OoT''.
