Ok Scorptile, so you think that ioi's numbers are right. But you think that the reason that he found for these numbers was wrong? Let me remind you that ioi doesn't just count the sales and contact everyone (impossible) but uses a sampling and then based on what he's hearing from those sources he calculates an estimate of the weekly sales. He tells us that there are shortages of the PS3, and these were atleast part of the reason that he has calculated the numbers as he has this week. If you don't think that the shortages are true then how can you agree with the numbers that were calculating using that knowledge.

This may have something to do with the E3 anouncement, and once the shortages have stopped we can certainly figure it out then, but assuming the drop in America is largely due to E3 is guesswork at best, and ignores evidence to contrary reasons.

I gotta agree with torillian. plus i think it's kinda far fetched to think that an announcement about a game that won't be out for more than a year from now could effect Consolesales to this degree. It's not like Square Enix announced FF13 as being exclusive to the 360. they just made it multiplat. I think if you are grasping at that as the reason for what has happened the past 2 weeks, you are really grasping at thin air. As torillion said if you doubt IOI's reasoning then you pretty much would have to doubt all his numbers completely. If you really want to believe IOI is wrong then whats to stop us all from saying the PS3 has sold 5o million consoles worldwide and the 360 only 5 million. Numbers of consoles shipped plays a big role in coming up with the numbers IOI pots every week.

umm no sorry, I don't think its the FFXIII announcement two weeks ago. FFXIII is not a console seller, even if its not released yet for another 2 years. you taking that all the sales increase is due to one game? lol

So far even at E3 Far cry 2 was not playable on PS3 only 360 version was playable. I think they showed footage in a trailer of PS3 version. I  phoned Game in the UK today and they said they have had 360 confirmed for October but the PS3 version has not been confirmed and could be put back to December. Maybe America is same as Gamestop does not have PS3 version down for October either.

To all those who think the 360 will finish ahead of the PS3: last Christmas PS3 didn't have any good exclusives, the multiplats looked better on the 360, Blu-ray wasn't the only HD format and yet PS3 outsold the 360. How can it be possible that this Christmas we won't bsee much, much better sales for the PS3?

The ps3 will most likely overtake the 360 in ww numbers thanks to having the edge in both europe and Japan. However I'm almost certain now that the 360 will retain its lead in NA for the entire generation.

Bingo. The PS3 only leads in Japan and that market is so small. Its funny how the 360 has close to 700k in Japan and is considered a failure, but the PS3 has 2.3m and is considered a sucess....but i digress. The 360 will beat sony to 30m. I don't see the PS3 selling over 30m this gen (counting this gen as 05-11).

Even when the PS3 was outselling the 360 it was two steps forwards and 1 step back. The 360 has too much of a lead for a few thousand units a month more to really help sony. lol i'm just rambling now....
