I noticed that when you look at someone's profile the trophies load a lot faster than before the update :P

what do you mean by better playback for PS1 & PS3 games?

Thats what Playstation Blog has. Id interpret it as adding back-end framework for future PS3 games and improving the emulator for PS1 titles.
