Forums - Microsoft - can 360 sell 27 million this year

Erm... nope.

Proabably end up between 25 million and 26 million... I very much doubt it will pass 26mil.

The X360 sold 5.3m units from July 28th to Dec. 29th according to VGC.

For reference, the Xbox 360 sold 2.6m in the same time period of Jan- Jul 21th, 2007. The X360 has sold 4.2m in the same timeframe - an increase of 1.6m units.

So it's certainly possible. If the X360 sold at the same rate, we'd get 25.3m units (give or take a few thousand). If it sold at the same YOY increase, the X360 would sell roughly 28m units by the end of the year.

So it should be in between 25.3m and 28m

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Excellent analysis so seconded.

I think it would take a serious price drop and I dont expect a new xbox or ps4 for at least a 5 year cycle especially since the price drops havent been as frequent or as large as last generation.

So the the 360 will be out 3 years this nov. 08 so I would say no new xbox till at least nov. 2010. and PS4 till 2011.
So its possible this gen would end up around 35 million which would be a big improvement and hopefully when they go to the next thing they keep making and supporting the 360 like sony does with the PS brand.

also a shrunk 360 model would be cool.

they need a price drop if they want to get there

Educated guess.  I concur.

it is selling faster than last year and i ment sell 27 million in total

Last year it sold about 8.5 million all year. You want it to sell 7 million in 5 months.

Sales are up compared to last year, but I don't think it's going to reach 27 million.  More likely, it will get to 26 million.

With an Elite price drop to counter Sony, yeah, I think it's certainly possible.
