I have a feeling SONY is trying to make sure they don't sell too many consoles just yet..... not until they can get a descent amount of profit from it...... that's just how it seems to me...

Oh, and PS2 is making them money, cutting out B/C might be to keep ps2 sales alive....

the bc is not a big problem , they can bring it back if sales drop :)

i think they are taking away backwards compatibility due to the losses on the ps3 and they may be trying to keep the ps2 alive longer so if a potential customer wants to play ps3 games and ps2 games they would have to buy 2 seperate peices of hardware....just a theory don't jump down my throat

So if even after 2 yrs they don't want to sell PS3 then when they really plan to sell the PS3s.. rather why not just donate the remaining PS3s to all the museums around the world. :)

I think they are aware of what they are doing.BC is not included in the 80 anymore because it heightens the price of it and right now Sony is trying to make the ps3 profitable.

I am surprised the new 80 model is going to be sold as the same price as the 40 so just take that extra 40 gig's of space as a added bonus and not complain.

The new model costs less to produce, they make some changes it costs less to produce so they go with it and get rid of the old, its not rocket science.
