Happiness of the Katakuris by Takashi Miike in 2001. It has everything I've ever wanted out of a film. It's not to be confused with his more famous ultra-gore shocker movies like Visitor Q and stuff. It's brilliant.

Also, Forbidden Zone by Richard Elfman in 1982. (His brother Danny kinda started a band for this movie, in which they do all the music and he plays Satan.) It also stars Herve Villaichez as the King of the 6th Dimension.

Kontroll: Only Hungarian movie i've ever seen but it was different and damn cool from what i remember.

Das Experiment is also amazing, though I don't know how obscure it is abroad... here, it's pretty well know.

I also recommend Character (original Dutch movie, though I don't know if it's english or dutch spoken, should be available with subtitles at least.)

Soldier of Orange should also be good, though it might be because of my own sentiment.

Is Dr. Strangelove obscure enough around now?
