Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft is a likely bidder for Take-Two takeover - GTA going exclusive?

I doubt it'll happen.... but it does make a lot of sense.

Right now... in my opinion... Sony and Nintendo hold a big competitive advantage over Microsoft. Their vast number of 1st party studios... while Microsoft either has less... or more focused coputer ones. (Like Ensemble I guess is Microsoft.)

If MS buys Take 2, I will sell my 360.

I'll be a Wii only owner. That's got to be better than supporting a console maker that business practice is buying everything in sight to win.

Is it really much difference? Buying companies rather then being like Nintendo or Sony.

Nintendo who forced exclusives by force, and Sony who got into the buisness... by buying everything in sight?

Heck doesn't Sony still buy a lot of minor studios... isn't that how they got a larger number of development studios then Nintendo?

I know you like at least FF7. SE during that exact time was the Microsoft of the JRPG world. Buying out beloved creators left and right.

This would be no different then what any other company does except you like Sony more then Microsoft so it "feels" worse.

News just in....

M$ has purchased the moon.

I do not understand the morality aspect of it. I cannot stand MS in the OS world because they force me to use sub-par software. I didn't buy a 360 because it was ugly and the quality sucked (and because the PS3 was better value when you wanted WLAN and a BluRay drive). And I won't buy a Wii because it has three games that do not have the color palette of a Barbie party in a lollipop store.

But selling the 360 because it gets a couple new exclusive franchises? Why would you do that. Because you do not want to "support" such behaviour? I can tell you Sony and Nintendo would do the same when they see the opportunity. This is capitalism. MS business practices in the OS world are bad because they are a monopolist but in the gaming world they are not.

Let them buy TT just like they bought Rare and they've released "so many awesome games since then". Buying a company and its IPs is one thing, keeping the talent behind the company's success is another.

Buying up developers really isn't as effective as it sounds.

It would make much more sense if MS focused its money on internal development.

Fuck business strategy, what r u, a fukn business man? And yes its so much easier to shit bag MS bcoz they stole Nintendo's prize Rare. EA another story coz at least they don't sell exclusively to one system.
Tell me where did u read this? A business blog, hmm. Dude that guys smokin some wiked shit most likely

Finally hmm.

Disclosure: I'm long ERTS and now own TTWO calls, so admittedly, I have an interest in a higher bid (especially from someone other than ERTS). But it is in no way ridiculous to conclude that TTWO could, and should, be bought for a price much higher than it's current share price (high $24) and offer price (~$25.75).

First off, this post is magic.  You are the man.

Next.  Everyone keeps arguing over market share v. profit.  MS went into business to put Sony and Nintendo out of it.  They failed.  They will continue to fail because of two reasons.

1. Nintendo is rolling in money, not equity nor liquidity like MS, MONEY.  Cold hard cash. Green backs (en aren't green but you know what I mean).

2. Sony is happy selling the PS3 as a BluRay player.  They could lose another 3-4 billion and not even blink.  It's been part of there plan to get BluRay out there and in homes.  If they get that (which they're doing) they will hold on to the disc market which will exist for at least another 20 years.  There's not going to be another TV format so 40GB movie discs will be big enough for a while.  World wide streaming and downloading will not be viable for a long time.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Yeah guys, that's right. Boycott everything MS because they will have the best games. Good luck to you
