I heard "Sega"... and "AAA".... and I thought I was back in year 1988.

I'm not saying anyone is lying, but I just find this really hard to believe, and carlos' post was a little over the top.

I remember this, or at least the Sony fanboys pretending like Mario & Sonic was the inferior game and 'funding' Beijing 2008, which is just an extension of "Wii funding HD" games anyway. You can generally tell if it's true or not based on which Sony fanboys come to the rescue. 

There was some initial outrage to the announcement back the time but people got over it because...no one really cared.
