Forums - Website Topics - Hardware shipments... forgotten?

I went to check the hardware shipments page. I used to check it once every few months or so, but I forgot about it for quite some time.

I went back today, and what do I find? It seems to have been forgotten - last date available is March of 2007. Well over a year ago! The updates were listed for every six months - Q1 and Q3 ending figures. So we've missed Q3 '07 and Q1 '08 numbers entirely.

So, what's up? Has this function become unimportant to the site or what's going on? Frankly, one of two things needs to happen. Either someone needs to start working on that section to keep it up to date, or we need to remove it entirely from the site. That really looks bad to have something on the site so terribly out of date.

^what Rol probably said.

If you can find the info anywhere feel free to tell ioi.

Not forgotten. Sony reported production shipments of PS3 through March 31 2007 and since has used shipments to retailers. We're tracking shipments to retail in the 'Big 3 Shipment thread' under the sales forum its stickied and updated.

Through March 31, 2008

PS3 shipments are at 12.81m

Wii shipments are 24.45m

Through June 30

Xbox 360 shipments are 20.3m

Nintendo & Sony reveal their results through June 30 later this week.

^Thanks Source... I didn't even know that was there.

If you continued to track them in that sticky, why not alter the hardware shipped page to fit that data? I find that page to be the most useful.

That would just be guesswork though.

The only data in that sticky for PS3 and X360 (and PS2 and PSP) is Worldwide quarterly... There is no regional breakdown except for Wii and DS.

Gotcha. Thanks, guys.

Something still needs to be done about that page, though. If quarterly information isn't released, then the previous quarter's information should be posted with a disclaimer or something, at least. It really damages the site's credibility having such a large hole in its information.
