Forums - Gaming - If you were a game developer

1.PS3 and 360
2.Action RPG
3.A deep, mature, and dark story with twists and turns to have you guessing till the end with memorable characters. Epic soundtrack is a must and an action-packed battle system. The story would be told with real-time cutscenes a la Metal Gear Solid(though not as long)
4.Nobuo Uematsu for soundtrack, Takeshi Obata for character designs

No one else can think of anything for a video game concept, I'm guessing

I would develop for DS/Wii because I would like to experiment with the controls.

I would create RPG's in general

I would love to bring my own RPG system to the consoles.(It's different from anything you'd play on other RPG's)

I would like to team up with the guy from Spiderweb. Geneforge really needs to come to consoles and portables.

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

1. DS. It's my favorite system, it has the largest install base, it's presumably rather cheap to develop for, and I'd like to come up with ways to incorporate the touch screen.

2. RPG

3. Adults Only touching mini-games

4. Hiroki Kikuta (because I'm not quite worthy of Uematsu) and Tomonobu Itagaki (for boob physics)

If you were a game developer, would...?

1. What system would you develop for and why?

2. What genre would your game be?

3. What new would you hope to bring to this genre?

4. Name 2 people you would want on your team. *Exp. Nobuo Uematsu would be my pic for music"

1. I'd be developing for the Wii, because as things stand, there is a gaping hole in the market demand for "core" games that is steadfastly being ignored by third parties.  If things stay the way they are, then by the time I get a good game out, I'll have a large chunk of the "core" market to myself.

2. An RTS/FPS hybrid (with emphasis on RTS), where the player's greatest commodity is their attention: Taking control of a unit on the ground greatly amplifies that unit's abilities in comparison to when it is under AI control, but leaves the player blind to the big picture, as well as being unable to make any strategic decisions on the RTS map (e.g. building construction, troop deployment, etc) until they relinquish control of the unit.

3. Principally, this hypothetical game would be an attempt to merge two "core" genres into a product accessible to fans of one, but not the other.

4. Jeremy Soule, for his awesome music (Supreme Commander and Total Annihilation had the finest game music I've ever heard).  I'm not sure who the second person would be, but it would have to be someone who can properly balance depth and complexity so that the game doesn't outright alienate the "casual" gamers despite the genre merging (don't laugh, it's possible: just look at the core Pokemon RPGs).

1. PS3 because the game I am making will appeal to this audience.

2. RPG or JRPG depending on the input from my dev team.

3. I think i would a type of JRPG meets WesternRPG so it is a game that ACTUALLY appeals to everyone.

4. Nobuo Uematsu for the music of brilliance and I would say David Jaffe but he hasn't really made an RPG so i don't think I would want him.... Peter Molyneux that is who i would want that way i get the brilliance of the JRPG music, the innovation of Fable and I would right the story based on my Final Fantasy knowledge but Peter would help put some western ideas into it too :)

  1. XBox 360/PS3
  2. Action RPG or WRPG
  3. Not new but seems forgotten-- strong character development.
  4. Honestly, I forgot his name but the Bioware head writer (I've actually met him and have his business card, just can't remember his name) for the first one.  As for the other I want the Celtic Woman group for my music and if I can't have them I want Haley Westenra.

1. Wii, because I probably wouldn't have the cash or resources to develop a fancy HD game, and I think I could come up with fun uses of the motion-sensing.

2. Likely a platformer, or a mix between platformer and FPS.

3. I have no idea--this kind of inspiration really only comes when you sit down to design a game.

4. Shigeru Miyamoto to help with revolutionary gameplay. Tetsuya Nomura for a kickass story.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
