I don't encourage developers who play it safe and roll out sequels at a frequent rate with only minor (if that) improvements. And I don't think R & C is a standard bearer.

Or games that don't stand out in their already crowded genres, although R2 looks alot more interesting than the first one.

 At least Capcom brings one or two absolute top new franchises out each generation, WHILE doing sequels, reinventing older franchises in exciting new ways, and  releasing games for every platform, so I can forgive any less than stellar games they put out.  And Nintendo already earned their stripes long ago

Seems the only difference between Insomniac and Nintendo that you're citing is that Nintendo is huge. I'm sure Insomniac would love to do 10 different series at a time as well if that were possible. You would prefer that Insomniac only do one R&C game every generation so that they were completely mind blowingly different?

They have their R&C this generation, so that series is done for a few years afaic. Hell I don't think there is a need or a demand for another Ratchet ever again.  Where is the rule that you have to have multiple sequels on a single console generation?  I remember one Metroid and one Zelda during the 16 bit days, and they just happen to be two of the greatest games of two of the greatest classic franchises of all time.

Truthfully, the market is to blame.  Consumers are completely happy with repetition and staying inside their gaming comfort zone, and praising anyone who gives them "good enough" as a master of the field 

I'd like to see their equivalent of Zelda, StarFox, FZero, Metroid, Kid Icarus, etc.  When they get that kind of variety to go along with their technical skills, then I'll be singing their praises too.

they obviously have the polish and presentation going for them, but the guy above is going on like Insomniac's merit is beyond reproach.  The same old, same old feeling I had playing Resistance says otherwise to me.

You don't think there's a demand for another Ratchet game ever again? You don't think that the million plus people that bought the latest want to play another game with the same humor and fun that they've come accustomed to? Hell I'll tell you there's demand from one guy.....right here buddy.

Again you tell me about the variety of Nintendo, but that is due to the large number of development teams that Nintendo has. Insomniac has 3, one for Resistance right now, one for Ratchet, and then one I heard about from SSJ. They don't have the kind of variety Nintendo has because they can't, not because they aren't a quality company.

edit: Hus is wrong no doubt....but so are you for marginalizing a good company. Which basically what both of you are doing in different directions. I never said Nintendo was bad, they have fantastic games and variety like you mentioned, but that doesn't mean that because Insomniac can't get that kind of variety that they aren't a good company.

That's like when people were saying Majora's Mask is gonna be the best Zelda. Just simply not going to be true.
