Uh...didn't they already say that the PS3 and 360 version would launch simultaneously in the West already? I don't see them changing. I doubt MS would allow it anyway.

Edit: lol, E3 happened in August? News to me.

Yup.

I think thats the key here, Soriku. One could assume that it should come out quicker on PS3 since it's been in development longer (atleast, this assumes that they're working a lot on putting the game on a PS3 right now).

But I think the key issue is that Microsoft wouldn't let XIII slip to a later release date in the West, as it'd be a huge blow to them. And if there's one thing that Microsoft has done this generation, is that they've stolen so many games, and provided a great platform for them to be built on, that's far easier to develop for than the PS3. Because of this, if there was indeed any discrepancy between the PS3 and X360 versions in terms of time to launch, Microsoft would remedy it, to ensure they maintain competitiveness against the PS3 version.

Nice to know that M$ solves all problems...

it's true the ps3 version will be finished before the xbox360 version
but they can just wait till both are finishedand release then at the same time , right?
MS won't allow such thing btw

If SE had any sense of foresight, they could have made 2 Final Fantasy on Wii in that same time period with a larger userbase in Japan and everywhere else rather than downgrading their own extremely expensive PS3 optimized engine.

They spent so much time and money developing that Engine for PS3 and they thought that they could use it for pretty much all their games of the generation...

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

This article is BS... Notice how he attempts to disprove a definitive claim about release dates (MS's) by using SE's claims which have nothing to do with release dates...

Just because SE says the PS3 version will be finished earlier, it doesn't mean it gets released earlier, especially if there's a contract between MS and SE saying otherwise...

I still don't get why square would want to release the PS3 version at the same time as the 360 version. If its already done it makes no sense why they would want to let it sit there for maybe 9-12 months then release the 360 version. It just does not seem logical.

I don't know if it's the case, but it would be perfectly logical if MS paid them for a simultaneous release. If it's the case, it doesn't matter which version is finished first...

in Japan, which is feasible

The decision to bring Final Fantasy XIII to Xbox 360 was only made recently.
Work on the Xbox 360 version of the game would not begin until the PS3 version of the game was completed.
That both version of the game would require a period of localization.
It was later revealed to us in an intimate hour long interview with the developer (that will appear in the next issue of Official PlayStation Magazine Australia on sale August 13th) that the game would not be ported to “other formats” until the localization of the PS3 version was completed.

His main argument stems from this.

His reasoning is that he does not believe SE will just have the finished PS3 version sitting around while they port the XBox 360 version. The only way this does happen, is if Microsoft pays out tons of money for this to occur. (which is unconfirmed, but assumed)

i don't care, its coming on the xbox 360 so i can wait
