@bigjon, i know i laughed when he said you were a big Sony fan
I was upset when i first saw the game, but after E3 and once all the other videos started to show up my interest in the game really started to peak.

You think I am a blind Sony fan!!!!! LOL!!! I think just the thought of that would give anyone on these boards who is not a n00b like you a good chuckle. (I have not been around as much the last 2-3 months) I am a big time Nintendo fan, and I bougth a PS1 in like 2000 to play FF games and GT. I bought a PS2 in like 04 to play GT, GTA, and FF. I bought a PS3 for blu-ray and satisfy the graphic tart in me (for the most part the Wii does not do that.. its ONLY flaw... well besides the soon to be resolved storage issue) I also notice you called someone else a blind sony fan which leads me to believe you are 360 fan in denial that things don't look promising for Banjo. Seriously me and my friends were LAUGHING at the game it looked so bad, and a couple of my friends were your tradtional Xbox Haloboys... I do not consider myself a fanboy, but if you called my a Nintendo fanboy that would make more sense... The only console I hate is the PSP, and I cant exactly explain why... I just do. |
sony fan or nintendo fan .. both the same because both cant get Rare games anymore so yah i still dont believe u.
I cannot wait for the game to come out. It looks great and the vehicle building aspect seems really fun. Not sure why platforming is only considered platforming when a character's legs are involved. It should not matter the method of character movement as long as the basic features of a platformer are kept. Collecting stuff and having to unlock things in order to get to areas previously unattainable. Instead of a new and improved jump, Banjo gets a new vehicle part that provides the same functionality. Only now, the functionality of all of these extra abilities can me mixed and matched to provide for an unlimited number of variations of character movement and action.

What are you gonna ban him? You are the one going calling everyone who does not worship the 360 or its exclusive games Blind Sony Fanboys (which makes no sense, especially when you said you checked my game collection)
Also, I forgot to mention this, I really did not play the old ones that much, so it is not the change scarring me. I just think the game looks stupids. Thats it. Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts looks dumb, at least in mine and most of my friends eyes.
End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Via Wikipedia:
Platform game, or platformer, is a video game genre characterized by jumping to and from suspended platforms or over obstacles.
Via Wikipedia:
The game is not a traditional third-person action and platform game like the previous entries in the series, but instead utilizes vehicles to transport Banjo and Kazooie around the levels. According to Mayles about 20 percent of the game retains traditional platforming elements, which include ledge grabbing and tightrope walking.
A comment or two:
1. "Collecting stuff and having to unlock things in order to get to areas previously unattainable" accurately describes not only most platformers but also most action-adventures and, if we stretch it a bit, a swath of other genres.
2. What makes a platformer a platformer is "jumping to and from suspended platforms" which, based on the word of the developer, does not describe the vast bulk of Banjo Nuts and Bolts.
Now being aware of these facts, do you see why some people are a bit hesitant in getting excited about a game that is, at best, a hybrid with little emphasis on actual platforming and, at worst, something completely alien to both gamers and to the Banjo franchise?

I could see why people are a little hesitant when the game was announced. Jumping does not have to be with legs. Using a very simple definition of platforming, getting from platform to platform using available movement options, then Banjo N & B fits the bill. I do not see why it has to be a character running around.
I agree, but you don't do much jumping, period, and that's the big problem with defining it as a platformer: you spend most of your time cruising around in planes, cars, etc. and not running to and fro, making precision jumps, etc.
It looks for all the world to me like a hybrid between Pilotwings and Mario, but the emphasis is most certainly on the former rather than the latter--if this was more balanced (say a 50/50 split) I, for one, would be far more interested and optimistic.
