I can see the updated heat sync inside so it's new hardware.  Just not new enough, I guess.

What does new have to do with it?  All current 360s sold have this same problem.  I don't see any slowdown for failure reports for Falcon units.  I see many such reports every single week.

Interesting observations: The manufacture date is 6/30/08. That's friggin new, given the time it takes to get into the channel.

I bought mine in mid april and it has an April 4th or April 8th manufacture date.  It was less than 3 weeks old according to the manufacture date.

I can only lol. Wow unlucky. Saying that I had a RRoD once on my first 360. Then my daughter spilled juice on my second one. LOL. Lets hope Jasper package is the final fix LOL. The first Xbox was fine, M$ must really have cut corners hey. Still if you can get free Jasper package it may have been well worth the RRoD. :)

Damn, are you moving your console while its on, or keeping it in a small, closed space? Cause that's a lot of replacements...

Number 4 had a power supply fan rubbing the side of the case.  It did it as soon as I opened the box and got progressively louder.  One day I turned it on and it sounded like someone had put playing cards in the spokes of a bicycle and was riding around in my living room.  I called tech support and they told me that was normal.  I turned the unit on and held out the phone to the deafening sound of the fan grinding against the case.  He agreed that maybe that wasn't normal after all.

LOL!  That's hilarious.

But he did tell me to watch for an "Ultra" model this fall.

Ultra!?  What does that mean?

If rumors are true (which they may be if that tech support guy wasn't joking) there will be an Xbox360 Elite with a 300-some Gigabyte Hard Drive. I can't really see too many awful people needing a hard drive that big, but if there are people out there eating up all their Xbox360 Elite's hard drive space with whatever they have, they'll be happy.

My PS3 stopped reading discs back a week before MGS4. Got a it back with a new drive within a week after getting the coffin.

My 2nd 360 died about a week ago but it wasn't TRL. I thought it was because my Aunt kept knocking out the power plugging to many things in but I noticed it sounds like something is loose inside. I'm not even gonna waste time sending it back to MS because they will see all the dried up liquor that I spilled in it a few months ago. That probably would void the warranty or something. I wanted to get an Elite anyway so I'll be getting it sooner than later now.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

@munkeh... It was about a 2 week turnaround. From the day I called MS. Another interesting observation: The DVD drive is MUCH quieter than the last one... I still don't understand how it could have been JUST manufactured and it doesn't have an HDMI port, though. I wonder what motherboard it is...

I hate trolls.

Has anyone else ever had a fake TRL? Since owning the console i've mostly only had to deal the occasional game ruining freeze-up, but on two occaisions the thing wouldn't start up at all and promptly got TRL. After drinking a beer and venting for a bit while planning to call msoft, i tried it again and it worked each time.

Me I had it happen twice. The screen showed some wierd video artifacts then the console locked up rebooted and TRL. Left it off a while and turned it back on and it did it agin. Reseated all connections and the hard drive and it worked fine for about 8 months of abuse and lan partys.

I recently moved back to Texas from Idaho and My 360 survived about a week down here in the heat and humidity. I havent bothered to call for a coffin yet to much on my plate to worry about it right now.

Forget it RROD is wack yo good thing you have old reliable.

Havent they developed a new motherboard designed to fit in the old xbox 360s?
