K, I'll go ahead and post it in Gaming Discussion

Thanks naznatips.

So here's the third question. Why is it that SE didn't have anything ready for an earlier release on the PS3? It's not like they had any way to know it would be struggling like this so early in it's lifespan.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

The issue is the development time required to make a quality PS3 game.  The last article I read from a developer perspective said that it takes even the best teams 3 years minimum to make a good to great PS3 game.  The dev kits have only been available for 3rd parties for a little over 2, so it's no surprise that companies like Square Enix who pride themselves on quality in their games are not rushing them.  The good PS3 games are next year for a reason.  That's the fastest they could get them out while spending the time and effort to make them great games.

Unfortunately, because of the long development times required for PS3 games (as opposed to a year for a good Wii game or 2 for a good 360 game, which can be ported to the PS3 after production) it will likely not have all that many titles on the system.  Of course, that can be seen as a good thing or a bad thing.  It's a good thing that developers are taking the time necessary to make great games, but it's a bad thing in that there will be long periods of time between these great games.

Still, the truly amazing titles aren't going to be rushed.  Most of the games comming out this year were rushed to keep the PS3 from experiencing a game drought.  Really, the PS3 would have been in a much better position  if they had waited till Christmas 07 to release it.  They would have been able to sell the system cheaper, have a much more robust launch library, and the big titles wouldn't seem so distant.  Good games are worth waiting for though.  That's why I have never complained once when Nintendo has pushed back a game.  I'd rather have devs take their time and make it perfect.

Does SquareEnix have any PS3 games in the works other than Final Fantasy 72? And does this mean that any of those games are being delayed?

I mean seriously tho. when are S-E gonna make some new franchises?

the already f*cked "Mana" up. we want new original ideas from square like,Hironobu Sakaguchi  says.

S-E isnt so "fresh" anymore

You should pay more attention to Square Enix.

It's a Wonderful World is easily in my top 3 games I want this year http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_a_Wonderful_World_%28video_game%29

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles has become it's own franchise, and they are putting a lot of effort into it's next 2 games
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy:_Crystal_Chronicles:_The_Crystal_Bearers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_Crystal_Chronicles:_Ring_of_Fates

Drakengard, Radiata Stories, and Kingdom Hearts were all established last generation
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drakengard
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiata_Stories
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_Hearts

And this generation Last Remanant was just anounced

I'd say they are hardly any slower at establishing new franchises than any other company.

Breakdown of this Thread:

Thread Starter: Oh look at this neat tidbit I found. It confirms there will be no Square-Enix games on PS3 this year.

Sony Fanboys: We already knew FFXIII wasn't going to be out this year, it's kind of stupid to bring it up like anyone didn't know.

Everyone Else in the Thread: Uh... He was talking about Squre-Enix games in general, not just FFXIII. Huh I wonder when FFXIII is comming out?

Sony Fanboys: This is just a Sony-Hater troll thread *Bring ups an irrelevant game comming out for Non-Sony Consoles to bash as an outlet for frustration*

Everyone Else in the Thread: ....

*Thread degenerates into discussion over Square-Enix's worth as a developer in the first place.*

^wrong - there will be loads of games for Sony this year - for the PSP

and SE will even publish one 360 game : Project Sylpheed (is it already out ?)

FF13 will quite certainly be the first game from SE for PS3 so ofcourse we discuss that games date (The Last Remnant might overtake FF13 in developement though , if they don't make this one all that long)

Mayby the wrong thread to ask, but if SE doesn't have any game for the PS3 this autum.

What do PS3 have for 3rd party support this autum, as a Nintendo fan I haven't taken a longer look on the PS3 lineup. Is there anything for the Japanese market that we know of?

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

Well this was expected anyway.

FF games generally take a while to develop. Look at Crisis Core for example. It's due out in Japan in September 2007, 2-3 after development started.

I think you will find that FFXIII and Versus etc will not start appearing until late 2008. So it may not be until 2009 before it appears in the Western World.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)
