Forums - Sony - L.A. Noire in final production phase

It seems my post not only killed the hype created for this game by its assumed "PS3 exclusivity" but also killed the thread.

makingmusic, we all make mistakes, even me. Let's not play the "gotcha" game here.

I don't think you have the gaul to deny that the generalization about a few hardcore Sony fanboys liking FFXIII less because it's a multiplat doesn't have some basis in reality.

Most Sony fanboys want all great games to be Sony Exclusives, and all Sony Exclusives to be great games. There is no shame in that.

However, don't get angry when someone finds it pleasurable that some of those games will also get released on other platforms.

I don't get angry when Sony fanboys flame former exclusives in order to promote current exclusives, like with FFXIII and Verses13.

Of course, you passively denied that such a thing ever happens, when in fact it happens in virtually every thread related to JRPGs since E3. How dare I generalize Sony fanboys.

If Tekken is announced as a multiplat, here is what will happen:

360 fanboys will throw in some passive-agressive shots.

PS3 fanboys will say, "who cares, not system seller, I like "X" fighting game better anyway."

X fighting game doesn't have to be PS3 exclusive, it just has to exist, in order to marginalize Tekken and make the loss of the series less important to that Sony fanboy in haters eyes.

It's a defense mechanism.

When I drink your milkshake and you say, "Ugh, I didn't even like that crappy milkshake in the first place, but I drank most of it anyway." That's a defense mechanism. The alternatives are unthinkable. Allowing someone to think that they hurt you, stole from you, and you have no retribution, isn't human nature. The termanology "owned" fits(in the milkshake example, not related to any loss or gain of exclusives, owned doesn't fit there, I'm merely explaining my tangent here), but I prefer "punked out."

You can't allow someone to punk you out in frot of your friends. However, this is the internet, and since you can't physically fight, you have to do it mentally. Fighting mentally requires moves like said defense mechanism in order to marginalize your opponents ammo. FFXIII is multiplat? Who cares!? Verses13 will be better anyway. Tekken might go multiplat? Who cares. Nobody plays Tekken. WKC PS3 exclusive? One of the most important JRPGs this generation.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

On the other hand, Xbox fans had been downplaying FF XIII, until it became multiplatform when they suddenly decided that it was a great game after all.

Zenfolder, the thing about Tekken is that the people who find this series to be the best of all fighting games and would die inside if it went multiplat is a very small minority.
FFXIII was a big blow, but nobody in their right mind would buy a console solely to play Tekken.

Zen what if your one of those people that thought FF13VS would be better than FF13 months before E3...that would be myself but if i say that now im flammed

That's also a generalization that I could call fairly accurate and based in reality. I've heard 360 fanboys flame FFXII(one of my favorite games) for months, when XIII was brought up.

@AnarchyWest

You got unlucky. Nothing can be done. You just happend to genuinally agree with a faux marginalization argument formed by people to deal with a big negative news announcement. It's rare but it happens.

@Rainbird

You'd be surprised at how hardcore some Tekken fans are, and how much of an impact the presence of Tekken on the playstation 3 had on many peoples decision for which console to buy.

I know they can be quite hardcore, but they are quite a minority still, and even so they would probably have bought a PS3 already to play Tekken 5:DR

if it remains exclusive i'll give it a shot, i dont like multiplatform games however. They often feel undone.

Going to be a sweet PS3 exclusive(real not some 360 "exclusive" that's also on PC).
Amazing way to kick off 2009.

The financial report also stated that fellow Take-Two title LA Noire is due out in fiscal 2008. The spokesperson suggested that both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releases are likely, stating, "LA Noire is being developed for next-generation systems."

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/rockstar-confirms-episodic-gta-content-360-only

Even though it's being funded by Sony, we know how long exclusives last.

Since then, the title has been bumped till 2009, but nothing has been denied about what was said to shareholders during the financial briefing.

Concerns were experssed about potential software sales, and this titles multiplatform release was stated as "likely" to calm fears.

It's getting harder and harder to get developers to commit to exclusivity, especially when the 360 software sells so well in America. FFXIII, Tekken, This.

Exclusivity is a now, conviniently, always "timed."

I hope this doesn't make PS3 owners less excited about the game, like it has about other games. Apparently now, Tekken sucks, Virtual Fighter is awesome, FFVersesXIII pwns FFXIII, and I bet now MAG pwns L.A. Noire, right?

Tekken has always sucked.  VF has always been better than Tekken.  I mean, Tekken sells better, but VF5 has always been a better game.

I don't think I've heard any Versus XIII pwn XIII, as Versus is just as likely to go multi-plat.

I don't think you can compare MAG and L.A. Noire, so I hope that was a joke.

I've never been excited about this game, but it's good to see it's not cancelled.

@DMJ

DMJ, posts like this are the reason people make generalizations.

IMO, you're wrong about Tekken. I rank VF very low on my list of fighters, personally.

Sony fanboys who don't realize Verses is probably going multiplat, promote it as better than 13 in their opinion, all the time.

I used MAG as an example, because there will have to be SOME PS3 exclusive that is gonna blow away L.A. Noire now that it probably isn't a PS3 exclusive. See my defense mechanism post above. It's game "x."

Speaking of MAG though, I'd love to see how little attention it got if it wasn't a PS3 exclusive.

Where am I going wrong?
